British: Red Ensign used by the Merchant Navy, 1801 on.

• All the birthday gift suggestions were wonderful…but wouldn’t work for Himself. He loves those foot massage machines at the Fair…with his shoes on. Massages overall are out as he is very ticklish. Especially his feet. Dinner out? He gave himself that…discount birthday dinners at the Boat House are a treat. Games and toys…he has all he ever wanted. He’s scheduled two long vacations already for the year. He isn’t reading right now…he’s playing games. No books. Nothing else. I’ll make him a funny card later when I’ve passed the point of frustration.
• Photos. I wanted to change the banner photo on my Blogger Postcards page not only to reflect the love I have for the water, but a calming thought for myself about America today. I thought this one might do it if tightly cropped. If you hit the Control and Plus once or twice, you will see that it now fills the whole box.
• With Republican Senate cutbacks, I am feeling the pinch psychologically. See the list at Celia’s. All their cuts anger me, but the first two are the worst. 1. To end coverage for preexisting conditions, veterans benefits, and aid to rural hospitals. 2. To remove discrimination protection for women in healthcare.

  • Himself: So glad I have had 33 years with this man…no matter what. hE'S A HAPPY MAN.
  • Herself: Making card and finding envelope.
  • Reading: Kludus….writes about Ocean Liners.
  • Gratitudes: Imagine not hanging over the end of the bed at night.

It's hard to think of gifts for some people. The person has to be in the mood for accepting a gift. There are times a person only wants big things and has no honest desire for anything else.
