Above the fold on the front page of the Decorah Shopper are two ads. Well six total but two caught my eye.

The Cresco Medical Clinic, Regional Health Services of Howard County announces new expanded hours. Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5 or 6 PM depending on the day. Medicine around here is generally part of either Mayo or Gundersen, both big medical empires. This looks like an independent medical practice.

A concealed carry permit class to either get a permit or to renew existing permits is being held in the upper room at T-Bocks on Wednesday, registration 5:30 pm. Cost is fifty bucks and you must have a photo ID. I wonder if my education benefits under the plant closure bill would pay for that (and milage).

There are two auction ads - one for a woman’s estate today at 9:30 AM at the Decorah Fairgrounds and one for a machinery and household consignments sale also today at 9 AM at an auction house at an address I’d have to look up if I wanted to go.

Also today in Decorah, though not advertised about the fold in the shopper is a branch of the Women’s March. It’s at 10 AM and starts in a little park at the east end of Water Street near the old depot that’s now a chiropractic office and the funeral home. I had intended to go - Jim was going to go too - but I have to work today. Eight hours - 5AM to 1 AM - known as a ‘straight eight’ with three ten minute breaks, one every two hours.

It’s been an interesting week weather wise. Lots of rain and ice and fog. I got nervous about my 9% grade hill one day and went through Postville which added a half hour to my commute.

Anyway folks, this is not really an entry but it will have to do.

Jim went. And took pictures.

Note the pink kitty hats. John said Deb had made herself one to wear to the Twin Cities Women’s March.

Sweet.

I'm sad you have to work today and that you can't go to the women's march in Decorah. My suspicious side wonders how many workers today will have to put in shifts that keep them from protesting.

NorthernSeeker January 21, 2017

Yay Jim! And Deb! Your sons are good people. Thanks for putting the photos up.

Yay Jim!

I'm recovering from a stomach bug and a cold, so I didn't attend any marches, but I am happy to say that several of our neighboring communities had them and the turnout was good. I donated to the ACLU and Planned Parenthood. It's going to be a long four years, but I think we're up to the fight.

I believe a half hour break every four hours is the fed minimum? I could be wrong.

Oh well it's a little late for them to get in trouble now. I think you have to have a break every four hours but I'm not sure the length is specified. But who knows? And what did Trump sign today already?

Kudos to Jim. I didn't go today either because of arthritic knees but my daughter and her partner and friends were there.

The weather doesn't sound like much fun.
