After a full week of sick hibernation, I worked a stint at the day job yesterday. Actually it was more of a consultant inservice. Twisted as I am, I love those things. I was that annoying student in school who listened to everything, nodding my head. and taking on puzzled expressions when a concept stuck me as new. I suspect I’m still annoying, though not as much, to adults around me. But I do think you have to go into those knowing you don’t know everything, no matter how long you’ve been involved with a particular industry. There’s always something to learn.

Not coughing was the challenge, but I had cough drops at hand. I only spoke up once, not realizing my froggy voice would have to be translated by the person sitting next to me. I do feel better and will go in for one meeting this afternoon. Otherwise, my sick days covered my usual work schedule, so I’m now off again until Sunday. Which is good, as I have a massive amount of writing to do. And need to track some online promotions at the same time (one book free, another discounted.)

I’ve been doing OK with my grief over watching Thunder go to the Rainbow Bridge. But a wave of emotion overtook me on the way home yesterday as I suddenly had a vision of what walking into my now empty house would be like, compared to what it was before. I started sobbing and should have pulled over, but driving straight here now is like driving through an ice tunnel. So I managed to get home safely in spite of a car following too closely behind, which always unnerves me.

I fell asleep early, hence woke up this morning at five am. Heated up a mug of sugar-free apple cider, took some cough medicine - the two not being an ideal combination - and built a fire in the fireplace, stacked pillows and comforter on the couch, and now I’m here.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day today.

xxoo,
FiM
