Allowing Imperfection In a Big Way in Everyday Ramblings

I am not distracted, no, that is why I shampooed my hair twice this morning. I am not working, there is snow and a great deal of ice in my world and I am spending time with 45 of my closest new friends jammed into the room above learning the subtle nuances of movement patterns and healthy structural alignment.

The teacher is marvelous. I am not in the least disappointed. He is also inspirational because he is very relaxed, knowledgeable and approachable.

One of the things, I am being honest here, that bothers me about my teacher and her teacher (he is also my teacher so it gets a bit confusing) is that they are clearly attracted to wealth, beauty, money, and celebrity credentials. It makes sense if your living depends on those in power with the resources and I have accepted it but this teacher is not like that. He is an egalitarian. It is refreshing.

There is an astonishing depth of knowledge there too.

He did bring his beautiful (but bigger than I would have expected girlfriend though). She might be his wife. Maybe he was just traveling with her and she is a famous teacher I don’t know. She is like that. Out in the chaotic coatroom someone complimented the tights I was wearing and she jumped into the conversation about clothing discounts for teachers in a very I do a lot of shopping way. More will be revealed.

This stuff is all fascinating to me from an anthropological perspective :)

I don’t know anyone in the workshop. But everybody is pretty friendly, including the gorgeous young former gymnast with a wild horse tattooed on her back. She is a sweetie. She can’t help it that she is drop dead gorgeous.

They have a big Christmas tree that the staff decorated in a very whimsical way that is in a side room with the floor covered in Persian rugs. It is cold because there are floor to ceiling windows but there are lots of blankets. I ate lunch in there yesterday.

I feel like I am on another planet for training. Ice World.

It looks like we won’t really thaw until Monday as more snow is expected tomorrow. Many folks were cavalier about the weather warnings on Wednesday and the city ground to a standstill. It was truly awful for those folks out in it.

REI was totally sold out of ice gripper shoes and shoe covers yesterday.

I got lots of attention because I had my trek poles, people were telling me how smart having them was as they slipped and slid by. Sigh.

Without my new iPhone and Uber I could and would not be doing this. I am ever so grateful for those folks out there doing the driving. My driver yesterday morning said that for the first time in awhile he felt like he was doing something useful with his days.

Okay, wish me luck as I am off to deal with it all again.

At least today the sun is out even though it is very cold.
