I had an interview last week. It went well and they offered me the job almost immediately. The problem is that it’s a student worker job, that pays $8.50 an hour and it’s 20 hours a week. It’s in the field I’m going into, disability services, so that’s an advantage. I’m applying to other part time jobs, but I still won’t make enough to live off of, and I’ll lose my health insurance. I put in my notice at my current job and I feel horrible about it. I love working there. I love my co-workers, I love working with the kids (although I wouldn’t want to do it forever), and it’s a mostly enjoyable job. I’m sad to be leaving. But I knew I’d have to eventually.
I had another interview for today, but I don’t feel great about it, although I REALLY want this job. I didn’t know it was a first-round interview. I’ve never had an interview like this, but I tried really hard to do well. There were two people interviewing me, and they were kind of cold. It was a very straight-forward and clinical interview. I am not totally qualified for the job, but I got an interview anyway. I explained why, despite my lack of experience in data entry/business systems, that I’m still a qualified candidate, but I still don’t feel about it. I feel like I did well, but I’m still upset with myself. I have never had an interview where I didn’t feel confident I got the job, so I’m really worried. I won’t know if I got a second interview until after next week, unfortunately, so I’m going to spend my entire winter break worrying.
I’m going to try to keep calm.
I really wanted to move out, and the benefits are really good. I’m hoping so, so much that I at least get a second interview.
