Midweek update in These titles mean nothing.

I’m not writing much here lately - as you may or may not have noticed.
There are various reasons.

  1. I’m busy. We are back to 56 hr weeks at work. What you say? Aren’t you closing and aren’t you supposed to be out of work? Well, yeah, but it’s kind of like a love affair. It ain’t over till it’s over. And now we are too busy to close. In fact, if any of you are looking for a temporary job, just go to Manpower and say I sent you and if you work for 30 days - not calendar days, work days - I will get a twenty dollar gift certificate from Kwik Star.

  2. I’m depressed. Well not exactly. I’m pretty much normal but I am not exactly happy with how the election turned out. I intended to write about it but now it’s over a week since it happened and it seems like old news. I’m having Democratic regrets. I’ve always been a Democrat - oh my god - don’t get me started with my stories - but I am beginning to wonder at the future in being a Democrat. None of the candidates, the list of women I was so proud to vote for, won. I bought some post cards at the book store to send them sympathy, thanks and kind thoughts, but I haven’t done it yet. Soon it will be too late to do that too. Democrats have lost both the Iowa Senate and the US Senate - or did they have the US Senate? Now all phases of government are under Republican control. And the US map gets redder and redder.

  3. Weather is good. The Chinese global warming initiative has worked out well for us this fall. Jim finished picking corn the other day. Good crop, high yields, dry. He had pretty good luck with the machinery. The sink hole in one of the away fields opened up under the combine but he managed to pull through it. I have pictures I haven’t posted. This was his first year in a long time working by himself - he had worked with a neighbor after the neighbor’s bridge collapsed under his combine and now the neighbor bought his own combine to work with his son who has started farming. The long season gave him time enough, gave everyone time enough, so that’s good. Now he’s chopping and baling corn stalks for bedding and he has the calves at home weaned. All good things.

  4. And life in general? Me? My moods? My feelings? What I do from day to day? I went to town last night to buy gas because I’d left my wallet at home yesterday and couldn’t buy it when I was at work. I bought take out from Gus & Tonys. Not pizza!!! Cheese burger and french fries for Jim and a chef’s salad for me. They make really generous chef’s salads, no eggs and no cheese which I don’t like much anyway, but lots of green and black olives, ham, and mushrooms. They usually give you two tubs of italian dressing, I usually only ask for one, but I can save the second one for my own lettuce. I gave Jim some lettuce so I just had salad stuff. Oh green peppers and a little onion too. In the salad, not for Jim.

I better get moving. I wrote here instead of in seven fifty words, so I will have to write there tonight. I have a streak going. Nothing terribly impressive but still it’s something.

I was supposed to get Jim’s SSN for the personnel person at work so she could up date my life insurance beneficiary. You can have more than one but I’ll trust him to share. I’d have to wake him up to ask, guess I will wait till tomorrow. The personnel person has a new job and is leaving December 1st. That’s interesting in itself.

Bye everyone. I will be back. We all move forward. It’s what we do.

Those are a lot of hours a week!

I've noticed you aren't writing much lately...you bet I've noticed. But I get it. It's not a job here.

Wow...56 hours a week is a lot of work. How is your body handling that? It will be really interesting for the company with nobody in HR for the closing part. They will have to bring someone in and pay more. I can see the HR person's point of view...huge amount of stressful work in that department that can be avoided by working for another company.

That's a long work week.

I must admit, I am very disappointed in my fellow Buckeyes. I thought we were better than this and wouldn't buy into whatever Trump is selling (himself, I think, and that's all). I'm trying to keep my chin up. It's hard.

(And this was a very nice entry, worth the wait, but please right more often!)

Good news about the crops this year. We haven't yet gotten below freezing but it is wet.
