I have a cold. mumble grumble.

Today was pretty much a complete waste of a day, besides the fact that I got through an entire written flute piece on trumpet. (With a lot of "oh shit, I'm going to black out" breaks, and taken down an octave in some places. But still, I got through it.) We took the biology MCAS today. It's expirimental, and I pretty much ensured that the sophomores next year will not have to take it, as I completely forgot what goes on in the nitrogen cycle, the names of any polysacharides, and lots of other things. I only had 20th Century and health today.

After school, Julian and I went to Greg's house to practice for the battle. Dave couldn't make it because he had a trombone lesson, and Elijah couldn't make it because his school is an hour away. Greg was pretty upset, because although we tried to get something done, we failed miserably. We barely even touched our instruments for lack of anything to do with three of the five members present. Eventually we gave up and Greg and Julian taught me to play Texas hold 'em. "Or as I like to call it," said Julian, "Texas hold them." I laughed. Greg slapped his forehead.

"You're the biggest nerd ever," said Greg.

"Do you actually call it that, or did you just make that up right now?" I said.

"Neither, actually."

"You stole it from somewhere?"

"No, I made it up a while ago and I've just been waiting for the right time to try it out." He turned slightly red.

"It was terrible," said Greg.

We have another potential gig now, I guess. There's this restaraunt in town that will let local bands play for an hour, and then people vote on which band that day was the best. Besides the fact that I doubt anyone will sit in a restaraunt for several hours to listen to a bunch of highschool bands and then care enough to vote, it sounds pretty promising. It's just that we have to come up with an hour's worth of songs. We made a list on Greg's bus.

"Hm. This is an... eclectic mix," said Julian. "Jazz, ska, classic rock... I will survive..."

"That's good. We're genre bending."

It was moderately fun, I guess, even though I hate failed rehearsals, Greg got mad, and Julian is obviously still not impressed by me. But hey - now I know how to play Hold 'em.

On a different note, it seems like the unusual high is gone now. I've gone back to what I normally call a "high" - that is, the absence of depression. Whatever that was though, it was nice. I've never just been happy for no reason before. Even if I'm bipolar, I take that as good news, since one would think that manic depression would be preferable to just plain old depression. I mean, I know that sounds simplistic, but it's logical, no?

Crap. I have a bunch of people I have to call for Music in the Community. And I keep just NOT calling them.
