I'm feeling happy right now. Things have been going drastically better since I last wrote. I have decided to stop being bored and start finding stuff for myself to do, like changing the format of this diary (it took longer than one might expect, because I obsessed over it) writing in my other diary, and practicing guitar. (I had a lesson yesterday and now actually have a song to work on. It's challenging! And it's jazz! Yay!) I have also been driving a lot, and I now feel pretty comfortable on minor highways.
Yesterday we met at the library to "work on our Latin project." In reality, we just hung out and talked with a bunch of books open on the table. Paul wasn't too happy. I guess we're meeting again Sunday. Anyway, it turns out that Molly is pissed off about being kicked out of the band, but she's pissed off at Dave and not at all at me. I'm not sure why, since it's at least half my fault, but I guess I'm not going to question it. Not knowing whether I was on good terms with Molly for those few days did not feel good to say the least.
A good portion of why I'm feeling happy right now has to do with the fact that I just got off the phone with Julian. Strictly business, of course, but we still talked and laughed for 45 minutes or so... about how screwed we are battle-of-the-bands-wise. Know why we're screwed? Because while I was asking Molly to be our bassist and Dave was asking Elijah, Julian was asking Mike, the nerdy freshman kid we've worked with before.
"Have you talked to Greg?" I asked him. "...No..." "Oh, so you don't know our bassist situation?" "Actually, I do." "You do?" "Yeah, Mike's doing it." "Oh no!" "What do you mean 'Oh no'?"
I then proceeded to explain the situation with Molly.
"Oh," he said. "That's... awkward." "Yeah, so what are we going to do?" "Well... I personally think we should keep Mike. I mean, Elijah doesn't even go to our school. And Mike seemed so... EAGER" "Yeah, but either way we have to kick someone out." "...Yeah." "You know what? I think I'm going to cop out and ask Dave to kick him out when he gets back from the mission trip." "Good idea."
We were also planning on dropping by to get his parents' signature (not happening, since he's the only one who's around and my mom decided it's not worth the drive for one signature) which involved rather amusing negotiations on the other end of the line about what time I should come so that Julian would be forced to wake up before his usual time (which I assume is around noon.)
The conversation ended with me saying "Okay... That didn't accomplish anything, did it?" We both started laughing.
"So... we don't know who our bassist is, you're not coming to my house, we're not rehearsing this weekend, and we don't know when we're rehearsing this week?"
"Correct."
"Ah, musicians." We laughed again.
"Alright. I will talk to you... later."
"Ok."
It's wierd that I feel this happy after talking on the phone. Usually talking on the phone is painfully awkward for me.
