Feeling bored, in a lazy sort of way. You know - there are things I COULD be doing, but I'm not doing them.
Anyway, I felt kind of tired and uncomfortable all day and my eyes were always slightly out of focus. 20th century is still the only reason I should even bother coming into school anymore. Well, I suppose band practice almost made it worth coming, but not even really. We didn't get too much done, even though we tried, and Greg ended up not doing anything because Dave and Julian and I were trying to figure out what we're doing. Basically the most we accomplished was getting the application form for the actual battle and deciding that we are not doing "Barbara Ann." (even though I think it would be hillarious.) And Eric is officially kicked out. I called him about it last night, and it was the main topic of conversation this morning. Adam decided to come hang out with us before school, and he said something like "Well yesterday I went to ultimate practice... unlike SOME people." He shot a glance at Eric.
"Yeah," said Eric, laughing. "I totally blew you guys off."
"Wait," I said, "You told me you couldn't come to band practice because you had ultimate practice."
"Yeah, I totally blew you guys off too."
"So what were you doing?"
"I had to buy stuff. You know... shoes... art supplies..."
"...drugs..." said Adam. "Well, I suppose that could count as an art supply, couldn't it?"
Eric ignored him and started talking about how he went to buy some shoes but didn't because they were forty dollars and he only had three hundred. He finished with, "In conclusion, this story is really just about how I had three hundred dollars. And now I don't have any."
"Yeah, those 'art supplies' get pretty expensive, don't they Eric?" Adam laughed. (It's funny because it's true. In reality, Eric was probably smoking something yesterday, which is why it's just as well that we kicked him out.)
Oh, we also had a high note contest. That was actually how we got the idea for "Barbara Ann." We all made the highest noise we could with our voices into Julian's tuner and tried to beat each other out. (I won, although I was afraid for a while I wouldn't. That would have been embarrassing.) It was fun, but I'm sure we looked ridiculous. Actually, I was half hoping that someone would walk in on us to add to the hillarity. It would be interesting to have to explain what we had been doing.
Practice ended with Dave leaving, Greg giving up on us completely and doing his math homework, and Julian and I sitting at the piano and trying to figure out the chords to this thing he wrote. That was kind of disturbingly nice...
I really need to figure out what we're going to play besides "I will survive." I MIGHT be able to do something with the thing Julian wrote, but I might not, since it was obviously intended to be mellow jazz, and that's not really the type of thing these crowds go for. Even if I turn it into a slow rock song, it might not be intense enough... Or I could just write something myself. That would be drastic.
Sorry for the jumping around in topic. Like I said, I'm pretty much just writing because I'm bored.
