Today was not a good day to start out with. Julian called my house last night and told me we were having practice, so I had to get my mom to drive me and my guitar to school way too early. ("Who is 'Julian'?" said my dad in an accusing tone after he took the call. "And what is this 'bridge group'?" Once in a while my dad realizes how little he knows about my life, and tries to make up for it by frantically asking questions.) I sat in the hallway for the entire morning. No one was hanging out there that I knew, so I stared into space for most of the time. Then in Latin I had... erm... girl trouble, and spent lunch in the nurse's office trying to clean myself up. (Sorry if it's too much information.) I was pretty mortified. Then for the rest of the day I was just tired. By the time I got to the band room, I looked bad enough for Julian to say "Um.. If you're not feeling well, we can call off practice today, since Rob can't make it and we can't have the band room or the drum set..." "Nah, I'm fine, I just had a bad day. Why can't we use the band room?" "Middle school jazz band." "Oh. What happenned to Greg?" "He went home because there's no drum set." "Oh. Well I'm here 'til 4:30 now, so we might as well wander the Williams center and try to find somewhere to go."

After an awkward conversation with Pete the techie, who we seemed to be intruding on, we were able to use a dressing room to rehearse. It was kind of wierd without bass or drums. We got some stuff done, but a lot of stuff we couldn't get done, so for a lot of the time I just talked to Dave and Julian. We talked about music mostly, but eventually, Dave brought up Adam. "...So we'll be doing a dry runthrough tomorrow. Which will be made worse by the fact that Adam's COMPLETELY AVOIDING her." "That's wierd," said Julian. "Why?" "Because," I said, "We broke up, and he's refusing to be mature about it." Julian paused, then laughed and put his fingers on his chin. "Hm. I seem to have missed something here..." "Yeah Julian," said Dave. "There's usually something that happens before two people can break up..." "Wait..." I said. "You didn't know we were going out?" "Of course I did!" he said, keeping his fingers on his chin. Then in a more serious voice "Well no, I mean... I kind of got the FEELING, but..." "Congratulations Julian," said Dave, "On being even more socially inept than I am." (This is true.) "Yeah, I caught on when I saw you like, sitting on his lap..." he said. Julian laughed. "I never did that!" I said quickly. This is true. "I think you did." "I think I didn't." "Well in that case, I DEFINATELY caught on when I saw you... MAKING OUT AT GREG'S PARTY!" Julian laughed again. So did I. "You know what? That never happenned." "Oh, right." his eyes shifted to either side. "Yeah, but I like, came over, and I was going to sit on the couch, but then I was like 'WOAH!' and... I couldn't sit on the couch." "And now he's avoiding you?" said Julian. "Man, this is like a soap opera. It's like," (in an comically loud whisper) "'Dave, tell ADAM we're having practice tomorrow." When he said "Adam," he widened his eyes and wiggled his fingers around. "And then like, 'YOU have to tell Aidan this, because I'M not talking to her.'" He continued to make fun of us throughout the rest of practice.

Julian is about six four and looks like he weighs about a hundred pounds. He has no chin, light brown hair, glasses, and abnormally long fingers. His pants are always too short. He definately has a sense of humor, but does not really seem to understand social things and almost never makes eye contact during conversation. All he listens to is jazz. He closes his eyes when he plays sax solos. I don't know why he keeps showing up in my dreams. Moreso than the not-being-attractive thing, you'd think the complete-lack-of-social skills thing would keep me from ever having a crush on him in real life. I mean, I LIKE him, but... no.
