In the last ten years the police have killed at least three people, and not one single officer has ever been held to account in a criminal court for these deaths, despite the circumstances demanding such an action.
How long before they do it again? How long before they come to believe they are protected and can do what they wish without any response from our judicial system?
Jean Charles de Menezes was innocent, and he was shot to death because the police mistook him for someone else, and didn’t bother to check who they were killing.
Ian Tomlinson was innocent, and he was killed by a police officer for no reason at all.
Mark Duggan was unarmed, either having thrown his gun away when stopped by police, or never having a gun on him in the first place. Yet he was shot to death by the police, who either were not paying enough attention to realise he had thrown the gun away, or who planted the gun to make it look like they hadn’t got it wrong.
How long before they do it again? To someone you know? How long before the public lose all faith in the police and the country falls in to chaos?
How long before the people get the justice they deserve?
