"THE SAME OLD CALM BEFORE THE FAMILIAR STORM" in "RESTLESS: POETICALLY-SPEAKING"

The ghost of your past has delivered the news,
giving you a heads-up
What’s that all about?

What does he want this time?
For long, you’ve drawn the line
said your last goodbye
No more those useless tears in your eyes
This time, never let him make you cry

Hopefully, he won’t stay long
No more second chances gone wrong
You’ve been strong
Without him, you still carry on

Fear him no more
Don’t open that door
If he ever dares barge in,
do yourself a favour:
shut the door right to his face,
before he puts you down again
in the same, old - God-forsaken - disgrace!
