I hear thunder... in Summer, summer, summer time!

We’re supposed to head off for T’s climbing lesson in twenty minutes but we have a major, full on, thunder storm going here. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE thunder, but I don’t fancy driving in this rain at rush hour. I really do love the power of a storm though. Truly magnificent… slightly dampened by the “I don’t like it, it’s too thundery” comments that are going on…

I’m trying to get T referred to CAMHS (Child and adolescent mental health services) because she’s been saying that she wished she was dead because life’s too hard and has been scratching herself, drawing blood, and slapping herself around the face. I had a meeting with one of the counsellors who can refer children yesterday, essentially to talk about T, but I ended up sobbing my heart out. I’m talking snot everywhere!! I thought I’d have to pay her for her tissues, i used so many! Anyway, I found it interesting that I saw a counsellor for four weeks. One who worked at the school. With him i didn’t crack at all, but with this lady it all came out. Perhaps some people just have the right temperament, way of listening. I don’t know, but it was good to talk to someone who was there to listen and validated me. I think I’m missing being validated because that doesn’t happen often in education!!

Although, I was with the kids who were playing football at lunch time when a year 2 teacher ran onto the football pitch and asked if I was doing the maths interventions this year. She whooped when I said yes! And yesterday I had the year sixes playing football, I scored a (totally flukey) goal, witnessed by a couple of the lads. Later, more of them were there and I ran for the ball, there was an audible groan and the one who saw me score said “Let her take it, Mrs Ermentrude has serious skills!”. Thankfully I scored again, then i left them to it… I didn’t want to burst their bubble..!

Hey guys - I got skills you know!!

As for her statutory assessment, required to get her into a secondary school unit.I was supposed to hear from them by the ninth of September. I haven’t. And no one is answering the phone.

Fuck them, fuck them all.
