How I love long weekends.
So, speaking of intense workouts, yesterday I went back to my Saturday morning workout in the park. This is one of the free deals, but it’s not the same organization. Different instructors, but a lot of the same people come out for Sat. AM class.
And ohhhhhhh, the new instructor. Wow. I don’t know if I’ve ever been more impressed with an instructor. He is absolutely perfect. Tall, chiseled, bald, black, smiling beautiful man with a booming boot camp voice. Yes, I will do whatever you say, sir.
I worked out so hard I can barely move this morning. In fact, as is my way, I stayed after class to ask him a question and he told me that he was watching how hard I worked out…with such passion and vigor! He said that’s what keeps him motivated to give us a good workout.
So. There you have it. I will give him my all and he will give me his all. I’m committed to every Saturday morning from here on out. I hope this freebie class doesn’t end! And even if it does, I’m thinking about personal training with this dude. I’m serious. This could be true love. Or at least something that will keep me committed to working out hard! :)
Last night I went to my friend and former boss/co-worker Marci’s for dinner and a float in her pool. Had a wonderful time with her as I always do. We drank wine, she made an awesome and very healthy dinner, and we floated in her pool and talked and talked and dreamed about retirement.
As we were talking, we started discussing some people we knew from our past career life and suddenly and idea popped into both of our brains: let’s go work with this guy we know who is now the CEO of the largest department store in an Asian country. In no time at all we had a plan and decided that we could both work with him for three years and be able to retire!
I don’t know how possible it all is, but it’s definitely work talking about. She’s much further along in her career, but I could use it as a major stepping stone. We were both completely pumped about this idea by the time we got out of the pool, but I’m not 100% sure that it wasn’t the wine talking.
Regardless, I love it when ideas like this start flowing. Even though over the past few months I’ve gotten very comfortable (to a point) with what I’m doing, I can’t rule out the possibility of big changes or getting fired/let go or whatever. Always important to have a back up plan or even more firm ideas on what to do.
And big changes are definitely afoot with my current company. We are about to acquire one, maybe two, new companies and it’s sure to bring on some major stress because change is hard! So we’ll see what happens. I definitely want to stay until after labor day and my French vacation because bonus checks…but anything goes after that! I realize that I say that in nearly every entry. I’m sure that won’t stop anytime soon.
OK. I need to take the dog on a nice, long walk. Tonight is the fireworks in our fair city. I hope to meet [Athena] at the bridge where we can catch some good ones!
Hope everyone’s having a wonderful July 4th weekend!
