Getting excited in In the Kingdom of Suzu

We leave for Barbuda in 3 weeks, really getting excited can’t wait! My plan for today is to go thru all my clothes and do a pre-pack. Am also going shopping for a few things and to get some of our non-perishable foods to take.

It is a gorgeous day out today, need to get the sun room and deck cleaned up but shopping comes first—ha ha! Jeff played out last night and is always beat the next day, so it is better to do the shopping and pre-packing today. He might grill out later today as it is so nice out.

Before I forget, I want to thank all who wished us a happy anniversary-----we have had some fun times indeed and it doesn’t seem like 20 years. Oh! Did I mention that my ex also got married the same year Jeff and I did----as soon as the divorce papers were signed and he could remarry he did. Well guess what? He and his wife split up and he moved out while she was at work. He is doing things pretty much the same way he did when he left me—cowardly. Anyway, I only know this cuz my son told me. Justice has been served (snicker, snicker) and on that note I bid you adieu!

Well, second wifey shoulda known what was coming. Did she really think she was the exception? Have a great time on your vacation! What non-perishables do you pack and why?

QueenSuzu ConnieK ⋅ April 16, 2016

We take coffee, snacks, cereal stuff cuz it is harder to get there and we can take the brands that we like. We also take the suntan lotions, bug spray and we can do hand wash there so we take clothes pins. A provision ship comes three times a week but they don't always have what you want and then you have to wait til the next time. We order eggs and bacon and other fresh things for our hostess to get for us but she can't always get it right away and we have substitutions.

Do you take the non-perishables with you on the plane? Do you pack them in a suitcase? How do you get them to Barbuda?

QueenSuzu Deleted user ⋅ April 17, 2016

We pack them in a suitcase that we check, would have to check a bag anyway because of taking a razor, bigger sizes of shampoo, conditioner, sun tan lotion that we can't carry on.

Deleted user QueenSuzu ⋅ April 17, 2016

Oh,you put everything in a suitcase? How long will you be in Barbuda. How many weeks? And do you bring bug spray too? I think Kelly and I are going to have to bring bug spray. Maui Jim said there are mosquitos.

Plan is back pack to carry on and we will each take a checked bag. Yes, we will take bug spray along with citronella candles and coils. Usually around 5 or 6 in the evening, we close everything up cuz it seems that is when the mosquitos comes out. Jeff seems to always get bitten up the worse so he has been taking kelp tablets and he is going to try rubbing dryer sheets on him when he is there.

Kelp tablet and dryer sheets keep mosquitos away? Wow! Poor Jeff having a time of it with the mosquitos. I would imagine he's at the point that he will try anything to keep from getting bit and I wouldn't blame him one bit. You forgot to tell me how long you will be in Barbuda. Will you let me know? And will you please write while you are there and share photos if you are able to.

Did you have fun shopping today? Will you tell me everything that you got? I really have to shop online now in order to find my size. There are more plus size clothes online. So, your ex is up to his old tricks again. Did he leave you like he left his soon to be ex?

QueenSuzu Deleted user ⋅ April 17, 2016

My ex----he left me for her. She was a co-worker of his and when he left me, he lost a lot of respect at his work. She went on to another job and people always wonder d how they managed to stay together as long as they did.
I only bought two tee shirts today (will take one back as I bought two different sizes and didn't want to try either of them on) and the cover up. I have everything from before that I am taking, need to weed out. So far it is 3 pair shorts and probably 6 shirts. One dress that I can use as a cover up or to go out to eat, another casual cover up (the one that I just bought), three bathing suits and 2 sets of pjs/lounge clothes. Goal is to get everything in my back pack to carry on. I am also taking 5 or 6 books along with my iPad and m3 player. Barbuda is a very laid back vacation where we read, lay/walk on the beach.

Hey, I'm planning on bringing three pair of shorts too. I still need to buy some tops. I bought the shorts today and I also bought some new pj's. I thought I would bring two pair of pj's. As you can probably tell, I don't have many clothes. I rarely buy clothes so it seems like I'm having to get everything for this trip to Hawaii. Oh well, I'll get good use out of everything. I'm really sorry that your ex left you for someone else. I'm sure you were devastated at the time. But now, you have moved on and are with someone who you really love and who really loves you. And just think, you get to go to Barbuda! :)

tried on all my clothes and I am taking back the white cover-up, the tops I am keeping as the large fits perfect, the ex-large I am keeping as well because both are 100% cotton so I am allowing for shrinkage and they were very inexpensive. Seems like I wear pretty much the same things but I don't usually wear shorts around here but in the islands it is a whole different attitude and feeling. And yes, I have moved on, we have had some amazing vacations and experiences altho not Hawaii so I am quite anxious to hear all about your upcoming Hawaii trip. (Half the fun is the planning).

I'm anxious to read about your Barbuda trip. Do you plan on writing entries while you are there? I hope that you will.

QueenSuzu Deleted user ⋅ April 19, 2016
