OFFICE GOSSIP ALERT!
Oh lord. If it isn’t my issue at work it’s Best Bud’s. Seems she’s picked a fight with the wrooooong person, and I’m almost afraid that I’m going to get some of the brunt of it by association.
Best Bud is in an entanglement with the Brown Nosey, and in case you’re wondering, Brown Nosey is especially good at brown-nosing the execs. Who do you think is going to win this one?
I won’t even go into the gory details, except for the fact that Best Bud didn’t want to have Brown Noesy in a negotiations meeting with one of her own vendors (visiting this week from China). In all honestly, after I thought about it, I think Brown Nosey is mostly right. SHE (B. Nosey) is the Product Manager, so really, she should get to sit in on those negotiations because ultimately, B. Nosey will be responsible for the pricing.
Best Bud doesn’t want her in the negotiations because B. Nosey doesn’t know how to deal with the Chinese (this is very true - she’s a pushy bitch), their culture, and the way they do business. Best Bud is extremely well-versed in international negotiations. So she asked that Brown Nosey not be involved in the meetings.
Now, Brown Nosey is NOSY! She can’t stand to be left out! So she told Best Bud that she was being SHADY.
And that did NOT go over well with Best Bud who came running to my cube to tell me the story! Finally, she has time to come talk to me. Unfortunately, it’s for this reason! Best Bud is now calling me several times an evening since this happened to get my opinion on the whole thing. Frankly, I think Best Bud is being a little unreasonable, but I can’t tell her that because she’s spilling over with a passion about this whole thing.
Best Bud has gone to her boss about her personal credibility being challenged and being called “shady.” She sent an email to Brown Nosey, asking why she was attacked so harshly and what BN thinks their working relationship should be. BB even told me she was going to go to HR about her…again! See, this is NOT their first rodeo. Yes, there’s more, but it’s too much to write.
Meanwhile, B. Nosey has taken to FACEBOOK, writing passive-aggressive status updates about personality conflicts and hashtagging them #dontbeshady
Believe it or not, Best Bud doesn’t have a FB account, but Brown Nosey and I are friends on FB, so I just KNOW that BN wants me to go running to Best Bud about what she clearly posted for Best Bud.
So now I’m caught in the crossfire. But guess what? I’m not going to show or tell Best Bud about Brown Nosey’s post. No fucking way.
I find it best to keep my best bud close but the brown-noser closer.
