Name: Dean

Age: 47

Status: Divorced 3.5 years. Two daughters, age 13 and nearly 16 who are actually his stepdaughters. Also has another daughter who is 23 that he never knew about until she was 14!

Job: Computer geek IT programmer guy for an energy company. Loves his gig and has tons of leeway.

Lives: Kinda far away in a town north of here, but works downtown very close to my place. I was disappointed when I heard where he lives, but a lot of people do that commute.

Length of Date: 2.5 hours.

He Looked: Tall! Better than his photos! He was dressed okay - kinda computer geeky, but I really couldn’t tell because we were both a little bundled up in our leather jackets. He had some photos in his profile with a beard that looked nice, but he was clean shaven, and that was also OK. Said he could grow one within a week :)

I Looked: Like what I looked like at the office - jeans, tall black suede boots, lightweight charcoal sweater over gray marled tee, black leather jacket. I thought I looked boring, but I didn’t have a lot of time to kill after driving from work, picking up the dog at daycare and parking in the garage. Only had time to feed the dog, run a brush through my hair and apply lipstick before it was time to leave and walk to the park.

We Did: Met at the park and sat down at a table to talk. It was cold, so I suggested that we walk over to the restaurant at the park and sit next to one of those fire warmer thingies and get a drink and perhaps an appetizer. Perfect! We talked a lot and both had martinis in honor of Martini. He held the dog the WHOLE time! He loved her - has 4 dogs of his own. Our conversation flowed pretty nicely, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised. He just got back from a European vacation with his daughters and raved about it. We talked about kids and Tinder and expectations and music and going out again. He’s very mellow and tolerant and easy-going, and clearly wants to be with someone who is the same. Appears to want a girlfriend.

First Impression: He made a very good first impression. While I wasn’t completely bowled over and I didn’t get butterflies and see fireworks like I did with the Bulldog, I felt glad that I showed up and didn’t blow him off like I thought I might.

High Point: Finding out he’s a pretty cool dude. Love that his favorite band is Ween (geeky weird factor that I like about him - plus, they are one of my very favorites!). Love that he’s shopping for a banjo this weekend.

Low Point: Not super, super attracted, but not NOT attracted either. Don’t love his location, so that kinda sucks.

He Stipulated: Must not be a workaholic or a workout-aholic who has an extremely limited amount of time.

I Stipulated: Must love my dog. Check!

How It Ended: After small plates and one martini, I was a little/lot buzzed and we both got coffees. He paid. He walked me in the direction of home, but we broke off three blocks from my place so that he could go to where his car is parked. We turned and I gave him a hug and he lightly grabbed my face and gave me a peck on the lips that surprised me a little bit but didn’t repel me at all.

Chances Are: We made another date to hang out next Thursday. I’m interested in knowing more…
