Here I sit in my bed, probably going to call it a night pretty soon. It’s not even 7PM yet, but I’m sleepy. I need to take the dog out for one more quickie walk and then I think I’m calling it a weekend. I really should be doing laundry AND the dishes. Let’s see how much I can get done while writing this entry, hmmm?
Friday night was a bust. I read a little bit. That’s all I remember. Pretty sure I was asleep by 8.
Up early on Saturday to do the walk with the dog. Spent all morning walking! We hiked the city trail and then up and around a shopping area and just kept right on walking. Before I knew it, I’d walked eight or so miles (although the dog pooped out around the four mile mark and I carried her in her bag - yes, she’s one of those dogs). The day was absolutely stunning and I was happy to get so much walking in.
Home around lunchtime and dicked around all afternoon until I spun myself right into a depression. The only thing I knew to get me out of it was to make dinner (roasted beet, pear and goat cheese salad) and then a full-on aerobic workout. Sweat, beautiful sweat.
Then shower and off to meet some neighbors at a bar that’s close to my old apartment. It’s a dive-y outdoor bar and there was a band and dogs are allowed, so I packed up the mutt and off we went.
I know the owner of this bar. He used to date Best Bud waaaaaay back in the day - before she and I had even met. So as soon as I got there, he and I shot the shit for a long, long time, catching up. He asked me why I never go there anymore, and the answer is simply, no real reason (I’ve been there a couple times in the last few months, and the last time was only a couple of weeks ago with the Bulldog…but the owner wasn’t there that night).
Aneeeeyyyway, the thing is, I think I will be back there a lot this spring and summer. The place was rockin’ and I was feeling quite saucy in my ripped jeans, boots, tight little sweater and my Bombshell bra, which promises to pump up your boobs by two sizes and gives me basically a gigantic rack! I know, I know…but the damn thing worked like a beacon in the night, calling all the boys to the yard! I had fun catching up with the owner, my neighbors and several other people too.
The problem was, I was drinking vodka tonics. And I’m trying to lose weight, so not much food in the tum tum. And my neighbor bought me a drink, which I immediately slammed. And I bought the next round and slammed another. And then the owner bought me another. Three V&Ts down and I was a goner.
I can’t handle my liquor. Wine is not such a problem, but liquor and I don’t seem to mix anymore.
I was offered an Uber home by some handsome strangers (who were no doubt eyeing my cleave), and I took them up on their offer. In fact, they rode along in the car only to see me properly home and then I think they went right back down to the bar. I actually gave the single one my phone number, but nothing will come of it because he lives too far away from me…and I wasn’t really attracted to him. Now, his friend, on the other hand, was another story! But he was also wearing a wedding ring, so that was that.
Home. Crash. Horrible sleep.
Then up fairly early so I could take the dog on an adventure walk to get my car back from the bar lot! It’s only a mile and 1/2 as the crow flies to where my car was parked, but the bar is situated in a somewhat shady part of town, so there were many twists and turns and go-arounds we had to take to get safely back to where we came from last night.
Plus, we started at the farmers market, my new favorite place, for breakfast tacos. Perfect for my hangover. Then we had to backtrack around through downtown, past the city hall and through a cemetery and around the convention center. Then through my old neighborhood (warehouse district). It sure has changed a lot in the last three years since I moved out of my sprawling loft. There are new buildings, apartments, movie theaters, retail shops…it’s crazy! Past the police station and around by some artist studios and then through a bit of the shitty neighborhood to where the bar was and where my car was still parked.
Whew! Glad to see it was still there and in one piece.
Drove home and parked in the parking garage and came back to the apartment to dick around even more. I have accomplished nothing over the weekend (though I did just take the dog out and did my dishes).
I’m exhausted from my weekend of nothing. I need to go rest now.
Love,
GS
