My energy has started coming back. Worked out two mornings in a row before coming into the office. Now if I could just get through this pesky thing called “work”.
As last week was the week of sales meetings and drunken evenings, this week is turning into a theme as well: dysfunctional co-workers.
I had to pull together a presentation for my team based on a fairly in-depth survey we all had to take a couple of weeks ago. It was like pulling teeth to get some of the staff to even take this survey, especially with Negative C…she doesn’t believe in these work-style personality-type mumbo jumbo, so she passive-aggressively simply didn’t take the test!
Of course, New Boss asked me to take care of it, meaning, nag Neg. C. until she fucking did it. Oh, was she mad.
Anyway, I had visuals and a presentation and a lot of encouraging words for my team. Plus, COOKIES! And what did I get in return? Not much.
Negative C. sat in the room speaking volumes with her body language. The rest of the team declared it “fluff” after the meeting was over. And New Boss was PISSED at my whole team for either their lack of participation or their negativity. The only redemption I felt was after the meeting he called me into his office and told me that he doesn’t know how I’ve dealt with this for over three years and that I’m pretty much a saint.
And although I felt a little bit better hearing (once more) that it’s not ME, it’s still ME who gets to deal with this shite on a daily basis. I’m so over it. Our meeting was supposed to be about engagement, and right now my engagement level is pretty low.
Speaking of Engagement Rings…
After all of the drama about avoiding SexyPants because he’d asked for the ring back, I’m hoping that it’s all over. We sent texts back and forth and in the end I told him that I simply didn’t have the ring anymore. It was gone.
Of course, he flew off the handle at this and told me that he was going to show up at my office to bring me the stuff of mine that he still had (I didn’t think there was anything left! Guess he was using some left over stuff for leverage), and I told him to please not bother. He answered back that he’d NEVER do anything to my stuff without telling me first!!
Uh.
He did end up showing up at my office, however he didn’t ask for me or even call or text me. He just lugged a basket full of books (!!) that I’d left over there. Oh, and a few of our leftover Save the Date cards…and my wedding planning workbook!
The receptionist came over to my desk after he’d left telling me that there were some things for me at the front desk.
I haven’t heard anything back from him.
OK. Duty calls. Meetings. Gotta go.
More later…
XO,
GS
