When there’s nothing you really want to watch, you try something completely different.
So now I’m watching (Amazon Prime summary)
Hong Kong Retro Cinema - The Haunted Cop Shop (English Subtitled) - 1987
Macky Kim and Chui Man are a pair of bumbling cops.
Things start to go wrong when a tricky thief they arrest is bitten by a vampire ghost.(See the twist there? It’s not just a vampire, but a vampire ghost. Scary stuff, no?)
The chief refuses to believe their crazy story and demands that they get proof with the help of their new superior, Fanny. The trio set out to find the ghost (a vampire ghost, let us not forget) but soon discover that the ghost is also hunting them.
I’ve watched about 10 minutes of this mischief and it’s just as silly as you’d think.
The current scene has the comic cops running off from an interrogation to save a comely young secretary who shouted “Ghost!” They abandon a suspect, clad only in boxers (oh don’t ask why) hand-cuffed to an office chair. The (vampire) ghost shows himself to the suspect who, in true Asian action film style, is rolling the office chair all over the place staying just a whispersbreath ahead of the spirit. (See how I avoided saying vampire-ghost there?)
You know,
If this is what I’m reduced to watching and commenting upon
I really do need get a life.
Oh, wait!
The suspect is getting away.
He just overturned the chair,
pulled his arms out from around the back,
disentangled himself,
jumped over his still hand-cuffed wrists to get his arms to his front
and leap-frogged over a desk,
- oh dear! -
only to land astraddle of a potted ball shaped cactus.
Yow!
I bet the vampire ghost gets him now.
How can I stop watching?
