I am tentatively optimistic today.
Last night when I got home from a weekly engagement both girls were waiting anxiously for me and my husband. They had not only taken it upon themselves to do what minimally is expected of them, but they also took the extra effort to straighten up some of the rest of the house (at this point, mine and my husbands responsibility). Dishes were washed off and ready to be loaded into the dishwasher.
Both of them at least seem to be trying.
I'm not sure what has brought about this change right now, but I am trying to be supportive of it. I have continued our daily talks. Last nights talk was more of a conversation with my 16 year old than just a one sided from me to her monologue.
Like I said, cautiously optimistic.
