A poem from 2007 - Nor Bid My Land Farewell in Welcome To My World

Way back in 2007, I wrote a story that started off as crack-fic, but became an actual story (albeit a parody, rather than anything more serious).

It tells of the time Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and most of the rest of the Harry Potter cast get stuck in the novel of The Lord of The Rings, and have to make their way through the story to escape.

As I said, most of it was done humorously, but there were one or two "serious" moments, one of which was the end of Book 2, when Hermione and Harry had to sneak in to Mordor.

(I first heard the original version sung by Bill Nighy during his performance as Sam Gamgee in the BBC Radio Production of Lord of The Rings - it was very impressive, and made quite an impression on me).

In Hogwarts School beneath the sun,
The mandrakes may grow in spring.
The spiders crawl, the centaurs run,
The merry merefolk sing.
And students gather in the halls
To learn their magic skill
From dawn of day until night falls
As did the Founders will

Though Tom is back and we may fall
As shadows grow 'ere deep
I trust that my friends, one and all
That they the faith shall keep.
For after night, the dawn will come
And darkness can not dwell
I will not say that we are done
Nor bid my school farewell.
