Half-joking in Adventures in paradise

I’m on the train down to the Gold Coast to catch up with my friend Benji. He’s visiting friends on the Goldy and this afternoon is the only free time I have to catch him before he takes off again, so I’m sacrificing my afternoon. It will only be a brief trip, as I have another 6am start tomorrow.
I worked today too. My God there is so much work to do lol. It’s quite amusing actually. Our store manager cut $2000 out of the wages because of public holiday rates, so I was basically ‘it’ today, and as it’s my usual short-day, I was out of there at 1:30pm, hence why I’m able to catch up with Benji. Oh well, gives me something to go.
I decided to bring my laptop on the train to occupy my time. I’m connected to the train’s free wi-fi. My UK friend (also visiting) was paying out how shit Brisbane is (compared to London where he now lives) by stating he couldn’t believe our trains ‘now’ had free wi-fi. Errrm, pretty sure we’ve had free wi-fi for like 5 years or something now.
Ironically, he was in at my work yesterday as I was working away. I called him a “Stuck-up London-er” to his face, but I was half-joking :P
I just figure people who move from small cities like mine (well, population-small, it’s not area-small) to big cities like London tend to get a big head and think they are better than everyone else, as is evident by his holier-than-thou status updates lately. Dude, don’t like it here, bugger back off I say :) I happen to like it here, mostly. Could do with a few less uneducated bogans, though :P

I didn’t do anything exciting for New Years eve. I’d finished at 8pm and had to be up around 5am so not much point. My housemate Nick was having a huge party with his friends when I got home though and I think they went to watch the fireworks on the roof of the house. I’m not sure they would have been able to see much from up there though. I did end up staying up until midnight though, so I didn’t crash out. I just watched the fireworks televised on ABC of Sydney. Pretty cool. It seemed to be the only channel showing any fireworks. I thought there may have been some of my own city, but nope, just lame New Years Eve movies. They certainly had a big party though. House looked like a bomb went off when I got up for breakfast this morning. My bathtub was strewn with red wig hair (they’d all dressed up for the occasion) and dirty marks all over it, and it looked like one of the girls had casually used my hairbrush. Yuck!
Andrew would have had a heart attack if he saw the house this morning.
It was partly cleaned up when I got home from work just before.

Anyway, I didn’t want to write much. Figured whilst I’m waiting for my station I’d jot something down.

Melbourne trains don't have wifi. I don't think Sydney ones do either.

Not that I know of.. I haven't caught Sydney trains properly in over 5 years, and last time I did (September) I didn't see anything about it. I have never seen/heard anything about it here in Melbourne either.

Haha, I remember a group of girls I went to high school with moving to Sydney (they followed the one ringleader) and then suddenly deciding that they were far too cosmopolitan to associate with the rest of us. Keep in mind that this great leap of independence was taken from NEWCASTLE to SYDNEY. Goodness me, how bold! Haha.
