I don’t know, man. Dancing is fun, but dance clubs are weird if you’re 48 years old. Still, Em had to dance, so dance we did.
I ended up with 21,000 steps on my Fitbit on Friday, and 10,000+ more when I woke up Saturday morning! That’s right, we danced until we had bloody stumps and I feel like I could use a couple of knee replacements.
Dumb thing is that we had to dance with ourselves, you know, a circle of “older ladies” until the young generation came a joined us - and then there were a couple of circles of females-only dancing on the floor.
At about 1:30AM, I’d had enough of that bullshit. I spotted this hot dude who was hanging on the outskirts kinda bopping along to the music. I grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into the dance area and we did a little grinding for a couple of songs. Lord, that was yummy.
We chatted a little bit because we were dancing so close we were basically dry humping, so I thought we should get to know each other a little bit. No idea what the dude’s name is, but who cares? He told me he’d been out to some other places that were no fun (after all, it was New Year’s Day and everyone had already blown it out the night before - including ME).
Then he made a bet with me that he was OLDER than me…which was really weird. Was he trying to get in my sequined skirt?? I bet him a drink and said, “Okay, I’m 48.”
He then took one look at me and left to go buy me a drink. Turns out he’s 35! He handed me a drink and then fled the scene! Haha. I scared the shit out of him, I guess.
By that time it was closing time anyway. And I’m not quite sure how this happened, but the DJ came over to me and started dancing with me. Wha??? I guess my moves had him going ALL NIGHT LONG. He was intrigued.
I don’t remember the conversation really at all. I do remember we came thisclose to kissing. I still got it…I think.
Next thing I know, we’re in Em’s car heading back to my place so they could drop me off. Jeez, and I thought I’d hate it so much that I’d be taking a cab home. I was actually the last one who wanted to go!
It was fun. My knees hurt like a mofo. It was worth it and I’d absolutely do it again!
Lesson: Must go out with friends much more often! Just maybe not at the same establishment.
