On a plane bound for LAX and I don’t know whether I’ll get the chance to write some more tonight or not, so I’m going to take this moment now and I can, I’ll come back and finish this out.
Oy, the large guy sitting next to me fell asleep - kinda on top of me. I just had to move really hard. He’s one of those peeps who is really restless, too, so I hated to wake him up. Just needed some relief.
Got up super early this morning after going to bed well after midnight. Took the train to the airport and waited forever at TSA. Go early this holiday season, people! They are checking every little tiny thing.
Stopped at the little wine bar in my terminal and met the most charming, lovely woman having a glass of wine (like me!) before her 9AM flight! She was a stunning older woman with pure white hair, tied in a loose, but VERY neat swirling bun and a cool black outfit accented with colorful jewelry. She was petite and in great shape and we hit it off like wildfire because of our love of wine in the morning before flights!
Turns out, she’s writing a book about a woman who was part of an art establishment in Taos, NM back in the day (not sure how long ago…maybe in the 30s? 40s? 50s?). Apparently, this female artist had stashed all of her artwork, as in, hidden it all away. And this lovely woman and her friend found all of this hidden artwork!
And she wanted someone else to write the book, but they wouldn’t do it, I guess, and now SHE’S writing this book.
I’m sure I got some of that wrong, but I just LOVED talking to this woman, and she was so sweet with me. She now lives in Mobile Bay, Alabama and travels back and forth to Chicago and Taos and who knows where else once a month. I can’t help but think there’s more to this woman…like she’s either famous or has done something incredible and I just don’t even know what it is yet.
As both of our planes were boarding and we were saying goodbye, she said some of the loveliest things to me about how they won’t want me to leave L.A. after I get there…and how her friend showed up in L.A. and is now a famous TV actress and on and on. It was tons of fun to laugh with this vibrant, beautiful woman.
–Later–
I’m done with my meeting with the Boys Club. Boy, was that an old school meeting! I was the only woman in a room full of 8 men and believe me, it was weird. I felt like they were being polite and a little bit patronizing as I presented a line plan to them and it was so good to be OUT of that strange situation.
And now I’ve made my way back through L.A., have checked into my funky little hotel in Venice and I’m headed to the rooftop bar for some bubbly and a bite before I pick up the Bulldog at LAX…
Yeah, I’m picking his ass up. We’ll see how this goes. I wanted to get my entry in before all of that because…well, just because.
Anyway, I’m working for a while tomorrow and then it’s PARTYTIME for this Ginger Snap.
Love you!
