I want to thank those who read my last entry and left suggestions.
I am signed up with the Meals on Wheels program. They suggest you should pay for the meals to the tune of $2.00 per meal. Up till now my payments have been when I had extra money I paid them. I will now make the extra effort and make the payment every month. This will be $44 to 48.00 per month. This is still cheap considering the meal you get.
Each meal has bread, meat, 2 vegetables, fruit, and milk, for 5 days a week. The meat is one of the following{chicken, Turkey, Beef, Pork, or Fish.}. Vegetables are a half cup of two of the following: Corn, Peas, String Beans, Carrots, Sweet potatoes, White potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli. The Fruit is one cup of one of the following: Applesauce, Apples, Peaches, Pears, or Pineapple. For snacks we get a small box of raisins.
On weekends, I go crazy and eat everything I probably shouldn’t eat but for 5 days a week I eat good.
I am not a cook. Since I retired I find the best food is the one that can be cooked in the Microwave.
My care giver has been after me to let her cook for me. She got into my freezer and found my large supply of leftover vegetables. She made me a vegetable Soup and she made enough (3 pints and two quart jars) for me to put the soup in the freezer. She told me now I had no reason NOT to have a hot meal on weekends. She also makes darn good Banana Bread which I dearly love.

This is all for now. Take Care folks.

One of my husband's volunteer jobs is delivering Meals on Wheels. He likes doing it.
