And also smoothies in Culinary Adventures

I periodically have obsessions with doing things or purchasing things. I am not sure why this happens but I’ll get fixated on a certain thing and I’ll spend all this time analyzing the different ways to make my obsession du jour happen. And usually this kind of thing? Is over something trivial that won’t really have a big impact on my life. But it is so entertaining to ruminate on…

My recent fixation is on making my own smoothies (for the healthiness) and also using spinach or kale in them. This necessitates a blender that can handle that sort of thing. I actually have a pretty old blender, but it isn’t even good at blending normal smoothies.

Cue, endless online research on blenders. And enter, the Magic Bullet (not the vibrator, the blender).

I am sure I desperately need it.

I talked to Phil about that and his response to all of my inane chatter about smoothies and blenders was, “Have a smoothie every day for a week and then you can consider buying one of those things.”

Ok Phil, it is ON!

However, in his version of the challenge, I would just buy a smoothie each day. But I didn’t want to do that. The underlying basis of my smoothie obsession is making my own smoothies, not paying expensive NYC prices to have someone else do it for me.

My roommate actually has one of these Magic Bullet blenders and since I have been spending actual time at the apartment this month, my plan is use that blender. And I have been.

The verdict…success! I’ve been making smoothies most days this week and have really been enjoying it. For now, just using fruit + spinach + yogurt. But that has all done really well and been delicious. I’m enjoying the overall experimentation part of it too.

This mornings, spinach, banana, pineapple and yogurt. Super delicious!
