Goodbye Weekend, Goodbye August, Goodbye Summer in Flux

I like Sunday nights. Sunday evening is of course bittesweet. Monday seems to want to interfere in the last moments of the weekend. Yet Sunday evening often is a welcome bookend to two days spent in pursuit of a life which doesn’t revolve around powerpoint presentations, employees and that next looming project deadline.

Tonight also marks the end of August. September is looming. While August has one last day to make a stand, it is basically done. Summer is over, Labor Day is upon us and I am about to embark on a weird couple of months.

In November I am moving in with my boyfriend of a few years. Due to a long list of logistical and financial optimizations we’d like to make, I’m moving into his studio apartment.

And I have a wacky plan.

Unlike the last 8 months, I am going to spend September largely at my apartment. I am going to purge, cull and evaluate every last dumb thing that I own. There are three fates that await my worldly possessions, (1) DISCARD (2) STORAGE UNIT or (3) MOVE IT INTO A TINY APARTMENT. Frankly item (3) on the list is the least desirable.

My time at my apartment in September also allows my boyfriend to enjoy a last month of alone time, space in his closet and bachelorhood.

Tonight, we are cooking dinner (which is this awesome steak, you should go make it right now), going to see a movie and then when Monday dawns , saying goodbye to summer and embarking on the great 2015 reorg.
