EB Games is getting a Grill'ing in Stuff

I woke up this morning, thinking it was a little cooler than usual whilst under my covers. I was still half-asleep, so just yanked my covers because I assumed they had fallen off the side of the bed again, and bunching them up would make me a bit warmer. It helped and I went back to sleep again for around another 20 minutes or so.

It was the garbage truck outside that woke me up again, with it’s squealing breaks. Every Wednesday morning without fail. Most of the time I sleep through it, but the driver especially rode them today. He seemed to be in a real hurry. So that woke me up and I looked at my clock and saw it was around 8am. I have my digital clock set for about 40 minutes later than it actually is lol. It’s just something I’ve always done and somehow manages to trick me into thinking I’m running late and forcing me out of the warm comfort of my bed. Although I’ve been doing that for so long now that my brain has caught onto the fact that it in’t the right time and I’ll roll back over. I can’t be bothered changing it to the right time. All my other clocks are the correct time, including my phone which I use as my alarm on my early-start work mornings :)

Anyway, I soon realized why I felt colder than usual. My FAN was on!
I literally sat straight up and bed and said out loud, “What. The. Fuck.”
This was some paranormal activity shit going on. How the fuck did my FAN get turned on? It’s been getting down to 8 degrees at night here lately. I certainly didn’t remember turning it on. My fan switch is kind of near my light switch, but surely I wasn’t that tired that I’d turn the fucking FAN on as I turned the light off.
So that’s kinda creeped me out a little this morning. Would someone have come in my room and turned it on?
Then I wondered to myself, “Am I a sleep-walker??”
I seriously have no recollection of turning it on. This wouldn’t be a big deal if there was some logical explanation but I’m struggling to think of one. Man.

Last night I went out to dinner with Vish and James. The uual thing, although now they are both working full-time, it’s not as often, which isn’t exactly a bad thing lol.
It was good to catch up though. We went to Vish’s favourite, Grill’d, even though it’s grossly overpriced and I wasn’t particularly happy eating there after the article on them this week about that uni student suing them because they fired her after raising issues about her pay. They are also paying pretty shit-house wages to their staff.
See, Grill’d began during the “Work Choices” era of the Howard government and still uses the same practices. Basically meaning no entitlements and no extra pay for working weekends or overtime. The wage is already crap as it is apparently. I know a little bit about it because my housemate Nick worked for them for a couple of years. In fact, both of my housemates worked for Grill’d at one point.
But yet here we were, eating there. Again. Ergh, I hate supporting companies like that.
Then I read the horrific article about EB Games yesterday also. My GOD. It almost sounds like Hitler himself is running that company. That article claims that staff work for FREE, even the midnight launches!! I was gobsmacked.

I couldn’t believe how fast my first two days of the weekend seemed to go by. That is the usual time most people have off for their weekends. I am lucky that I get three consecutive every weekend, but my weekend is early-week, so I pretty much haven’t had much of a social life in ages. I’ve been a bit self-hating myself lately because of it, but then I think it isn’t really that much of a deal.

I copied a few more OD Entries over, which probably annoys the hell out of you guys. I’m trying not to do too many at a time though, and I wonder if I should just go back to making the Book’s private so that they don’t pop up in people’s bookmarks, and then just changing the book to public later on?
I am finding it pretty fascinating reading back on my old life as a 20-something though. Back when I had a car and knew how to be a decent friend to people. I don’t feel like I have either of those these days. Then again the car allowed me to travel to said-friends places, and a lot of those past friends have moved onto different areas of their lives, like us all I guess.

I do kinda like the sneak-peak looks of the new layout the site-master here is planning sometime soon.

Speaking of cars, I booked my hire car for next month, so that I can attend my brother’s wedding. I can’t believe it’s only a month away now. I still need to apply for leave for it, although I’d much rather just use up a few sick days for it, but I’m not very good at faking I’m sick. The only time I’ve called in sick in the last 5 years was last year when I was actually hospitalized with that nasty case of the cold. I’d texted my nightfill manager at the time and he wouldn’t accept it unless I ‘rang in’ sick, but the fact of the matter was I was that sick that I couldn’t physically speak lol. So far this year I’ve managed to avoid it, although I know what I am like and generally in the past, I’ve gotten sick after Winter passes and Spring begins. Go figure. Last year was just a nasty one I guess.
Whenever a customer at work is coughing their lungs up, I do everything to try and avoid them haha. I don’t want that shit! FFS if you’re dying, don’t go out in public with it you morons!!! When I was sick, I was getting my groceries delivered, but that was more-so because all my energy was drained at the time.

So yeah, I booked it for 2 days. I was gonna go 4 but it’s a bit too expensive and I figure I can do a little exploring with that extra day. I was considering going to Gay Ski week in New Zealand for my first overseas trip, but I’m already bitching about how cold it has been in Queensland, let ALONE New Zealand where the wind will no doubt be howling through also, so that idea has kinda been shoved back in the cupboard, for now.
I am a sun-baby. Give me back my sunshine Queensland!
Ironically, I say that as it is currently raining outside.

Vish and James will be over again tonight for herb bread and chips. I’m just waiting for the rain to stop so I can go and get some drinks. At least I have a later start tomorrow so I can sleep in a little :)

Wow this entry was boring. I think I’ll go back to living vicariously through myself via my old entries :P

I often have wild body temperature changes during the night and wake up nude, with no memory of getting naked. Maybe you had one of those and turned on the fan?

My husband was a store manager for EB Games (GameStop in the US). I read that article and can confirm a lot of the stuff. No sexual harassment in his stores, but he worked ridiculous hours because he was on salary and they kept cutting his hourly budgets for part timers, so he had to just stay and stay and stay. 11 or 12 hours, six days a week.

That is so unfair! Criminal, in fact :(
I hope he doesn't do that anymore.

Nope, definitely not. The whole KPI thing was insane, too. Never again.
