I’m just typing here, not intending to offend or rally and although it might seem like I have a strong opinion, I probably don’t.

Recreational marijuana. You know with the exception of Viagra what recreational drug use means is; It gets you high. I mean nobody takes a recreational anti-biotic, right? Sure, marijuana took the scenic route, here in the states at any rate, I honestly don’t know much about the recent history of marijuana in, say, Italy. Medicinal, a great many states have medicinal marijuana laws.

According to old cowboy movies Whiskey was medicinal too, used both to sterilize wounds and as an anesthetic. Um, the normal proof of bottled whiskey is usually a bit light for sterilizing a wound, but, you know, most of the Indians in movies were Jews. It’s important, alcohol is the hardest legal recreational drug. Sure, some smart ass (you know, out of the two of you who are reading this) is thinking about refined sugar, caffeine, nicotine and a holy host of other shit. Unless you just started any of those first three you aren’t getting high from them though you’d probably get low from not having them.

Marijuana and alcohol pretty much always work, sometimes it takes more and sometimes it takes less. Those cowboys in the movies ….? There was morphine, I mean even though they didn’t have cars or nuclear weapons they had narcotics and junkies but it either didn’t occur to people or history shushed a lot of it up, but narcotics were legal in the states for the 19th century and at least a decade into the 20th. It’s not like you could walk into a saloon and get rubbing alcohol and morphine, but you didn’t need a prescription. You did kind of need a doctor because those were the kind of guys that had that shit.

There was prohibition of alcohol for about a decade. The biggest point history makes of that, besides organized crime levels skyrocketing, is how many people were getting drunk.

Marijuana became big news in the 60’s for the very reason old whatshisname was trying to make it big news in the 40’s. Because middle class white kids were doing it. Sorry, take white out of that, it really doesn’t change anything. All of the sudden the sacred cow of youth, education and the middle class were doused with grimy crime oil and lit on fire. That was sort of the point of rebelling. Why would you have a protest with a beer? A Love in with schnapps or Annie Greensprings (I figure at least one of the two reading this is old enough to remember the cheap ass wine with the hippie demographic in mind).

Because I’m from Oregon and because I’ve been going into brick and mortar vapor shops of late, I’ve found myself in the recreational marijuana conversation with more frequency than I had heretofore. Personally I got bored with marijuana a long time ago, not that I haven’t smoked it in the past decade, just, you know, I haven’t had a desire to seek out that kind of high in a long time. I can say that for me, a guy who used to smoke a lot and who does have a lot of medical issues, there is absolutely nothing medicinal; about the weed. Wait, no, that’s not true, when I have an upset tummy weed is pretty good at curing it. I’m not saying the idea of medicinal marijuana is bullshit, I’m just saying the potential for bullshit is there. Recreational marijuana? No bullshit, I doubt a single user is secretly using it to enhance work performance as, say, a CPA. I would be shocked if 100 percent of recreational users were not, in fact, using it recreationally. In my humble experience most Viagra users are recreational users, but, I don’t think most of the guys who confide in me would tell me if their dicks really didn’t work without the stuff. Just saying.
