U.S decision on marriage equality means nothing to Abbott in Stuff

Like a hell of a lot of other people today, I changed my Facebook profile pic rainbow in light of this historic day in the U.S.A. “Love has won”, I believe were the words from Mr. President.

I have had a smile on my face all day for the good citizens of the U.S.A.
When I say the good citizens, I mean the ones who aren’t complete bigots and idiots saying they are “moving to Canada” in light of the new laws. Fucking morons.

I actually woke up this morning to a message on my facebook wall from my friend Tiffany, who is from Maine. She posted something letting me know that I can now go over there and marry.

I didn’t understand at first, but it was soon apparent, as my entire Facebook exploded with the news. I think George Takei said it best…

Of course, it didn’t take long for our lovely, heartfelt Prime Minister, Mr. Tony Abbott to respond to the ecstatic news from across the Pacific.

Abbott says U.S decision on marriage equality means nothing to him

^Rolls eyes to back of head^

So, it’s sort of like the whole English-speaking world is devouring the delicious cake, but holding it out of my reach.

All because of a bully of a man who believes
a) coal is the future
b) wind farms are unsustainable and ugly
c) People can be stripped of Australian citizenship without a trial
d) That his biggest achievement as the ‘Minister For Women’ was “abolishing the Carbon Tax” and most importantly
e) That global warming is a myth!
Amongst many other things.

So it’s not really too surprising knowing his views on two people who love each other.

Its not just Abbott that think likes this. He is representative of Australian politicians, they're all embiciles.

The Liberal party stance on a whole bunch of things is just wrong, they dont care about anything, not necess the voters but whoever is making their contributions, I mean the people and the organisations that make financial contributions to their party. They have a big say in what is going on...

I do not understand how we had gay marriage in Australia, in Canberra, then we reverted on it., In NSW, the gay marriage vote was lost by one senator, we only needed one more to have it passed. I think the Australian people would pass it, if we were actually heard and accounted for in politics, but we're not. Our government doesnt care about doing their job, they are not even interested in what people want, or what is going on... i think the protests are going to start fairly soon, they are in regards to the closure of aboriginal communities, I am aboriginal. And our government is just continually racist, and going back on so many promises right now... I think people are just going to be protesting more and more - if they actually gave a stuff - but like everything on the australian political agenda, australians dont care unless it directly affects them personally.

Oh don't even get me started on how offended I am at the Aboriginal community closure talks! What a horrid, horrid Prime Minister for this country. He actually makes me feel ashamed to feel Australian. I never thought I would say that.

I'm not ashamed to be Australian just embarrassed. .. and how we carried on over the bali 9... I wonder what Indonesia thinks of us. And I have no doubt that we did bribe that boat captain. Australia would do that.

Abbott doesnt care. He sits in Kirribilli house. Not the Lodge, he sits there with his butler, and all his expenses taken care of, and his living away from home allowances, he sits in his little bubble...and we the australian people have to put up with an imcompetent moron running everything. But its not just him, its julie bishop - that woman is just an outright liar. We have Malcolm Turnbull - but if its not a luncheon at bondi icebergs, what does he actually do?

Its just ridiculous.

KissOfLife! Deleted user ⋅ June 27, 2015

Yeah, exactly. Ergh, to think citizens voted these horrendous people in.

Deleted user KissOfLife! ⋅ June 28, 2015

We only voted liberal in- because of how bad the Labor party has become. .. they demoted krudd and only put Gillard in (who just did not have the competency to do the job) because they were playing the first female Prime Minister and then backflipped on it all - all of that cost this country mega dollars...

You do know Bill Shorten is Quinten Bryce's (the last governor general's) son in law?

Aussie Bush Politics... they're just a bunch of backward bogans. Its getting worse and worse.... whats the alternative to Abbott and the libs? We'll just go back to labor

I don't think I have ever been more proud to be an American. I have ALWAYS thought marriage equality should be a thing. I have always thought that it wasn't fair that because I am straight I could marry the person I love, but my two of my cousins (who are both gay) wouldn't be able to marry the men they love. I think love is love and two adults in a loving and committed relationship should be able to marry and live "happily ever after".

Next weekend, which seems rather fitting, my cousin and his partner (who are actually already married in their home state) are coming home to have a wedding ceremony in front of family and friends. I have been so excited about attending his wedding since I received the invite. It will be my first wedding of anyone in the LGBT community, but I'm sure it won't be my last!

The governor of Texas is Greg Abbott. I totally thought that's who you were referring to in your title. Turns out though that these two Abbotts could be brothers with their views! (poor Texas. Poor Australia.) the funniest part about folks moving to Canada is that Canada legalized gay marriage ages ago!

Which just reinforces how stupid some people really are :D

Oh wow, not TWO Abbotts! ERGH.
