My First Narcotic Sunday, March 25, 2007

Last night at around 1 am I layed down to go to sleep. By 2 am I was out of bed in horrible pain. I got out of bed and was pacing back and forth trying to get the pain to stop. My lower back was killing me and I had exteme abdominal pain. At 3 am I was still in pain but by then I was sticking my finger down my throat trying to relieve pressure. I was crying because the pain was so intense. Finally at 330 am I decided I would goto the hospital. My back was hurting so bad I couldn't stand it.

I woke my cousin up and he took me there. All they did was take a urine sample and tell me that its just part of my IBS. I told them about all the pain I have been having and they just looked at me like I was foolish. I know something is wrong. However, I also know that nothing is going to be done about it. Everyone has gas pains. I just get to have them 4 times a week and can't seem to have normal solid stool. That's just great.

So I finally get seen by the doctor and he ask me if I am on any medication, and I tell him they gave me something but it doesn't work. So he wrote me out a new prescription for something stronger. Now that it was 6:30 in the morning all I wanted was the pain to stop. So they gave me a shot of morphine. 20 minutes later I am feeling good. Real good. At home at 7 am all I can do is crawl to my bed. My whole body was numb. When I woke up a few hours later my mouth was numb and I was drooling all over myself. Being that I had never had a narcotic I was kind of enjoying it. However, now it's 9pm and I am still tired. However, I am not in pain. Hopefully this new medication will help.

Derek and my friend Angie helped me get a lot moved on Saturday. Almost everything is done. My plan was to unpack and get things in order today, but unfortunately the morphine made me not wake up until 4 pm. Now that's sleeping in! So nothing got done today.

6 days until I move!

wow..morphine is kinda strong!! IBS or not you should have had an upper or lower GI done. They did it to me. You could have Krohns or something that is totally different from IBS. There could be a perforated intestine. When you say you are in pain and they dont know 100% they better do a test to be able to show you 100% that it is just gas. I had morphine when I burned my foot on top of a mountain and I told them to stop because I thought my heart would stop. It does numb you. I was numb for days. Be careful because it is highly addictive. I'm glad it helped you though. [Mistie] 3/25/2007 9:32:38 PM
glad you went to the hospital and they changed your medicine. morphine sounds crazy. never had it. try to take it easy until your specialist appointment. [lostonthesea] 3/25/2007 10:10:25 PM
I had morphine when I had my kidney stone. It was wonderful stuff!

never had morphine... I hope I'm never in such pain as to justify them giving it to me.

I do hope you're feeling better, though [Soul Karma] [p] 3/25/2007 10:58:46 PM
"I was drooling all over myself"

I laughed at that. Is that wrong?

Anyhow, I dont believe your doctors.

Oh, and I had morphine once also and it didnt work for me.

Guess i have a high tolerance for drugs.

So they gave me dilatin. Or something probably not spelled like that at all. Not like i wrote it down.

Anyhow, when the gave it to me i could feel it coursing through my body. Weirdly felt good.

Wow Ive never had morphine but it sounds like you had fun with it! Im glad it made you feel better at least!! [Slytherin Blood] 3/26/2007 12:56:42 AM
I know what you mean by you think something is really wrong and nothing will be done about it. My doctors get to a point where they say "Well, what do you think we should do about it?". I say to myself "How would I know, I'm not the one that went to medical school." Trying not to blow up, I say "I don't know, what do you recommend?". [baby robin] 3/26/2007 5:45:05 AM
I think the doctors should experience some of the tests they so easily order. I hate the hit n miss method, some of them try. I understand they have to try to cancel things out, but its still hard on a person. I suffer from IBS, it use to be terrible. I tried to get the doctors to see if it was hereditary, cause others in my family suffer. I had a GI Dr. tell me it's all in my head. It's not all! [baby robin] 3/26/2007 5:57:43 AM
I hope the new medication helps you. IBS can be so painful. [baby robin]
