So. Sir Terry Pratchett has died. This has affected me more than any other death this year. I learned to read through The Colour of Magic back in the 90’s. I’ve read every book he’s written, I’ve read every short story he’s written, I’ve watched every TV adaptation of his work. I’ve seen him speak, I’ve met him a few times, I’m friends with a friend of his family. To say that Terry Pratchett has, in more than one way, changed my life is understating it.

I’m extremely sad about his passing. 66 is no age to go out on. Yesterday was one of the saddest days of my life.

Its sad when someone who has affected our lives so much passes away. I'm sorry my friend. It sucks. People die so young these days...

He had Alzheimer's. It wasn't a total shock, but he seemed okay last week. He campaigned relentlessly for the right to assisted suicide. Even our Prime Minister, cunt that he is, acknowledged Sir Terry Pratchett's contributions to our world. Yes, "Sir". He was knighted a number of years back.

Many people consider him our national hero.

That's so cool he was knighted. That's got to be such a huge honor. He sounds like a pretty awesome person. I'll have to look into some of his works

Start with The Colour of Magic and go from there. The Discworld is a massive, massive series - 40-something books in total. You can read them in any order, mostly, but I'd definitely start from the beginning. You can see his technique refine over time.

Nice. Thanks man def gonna look into this stuff

The Discworld is a separate world from our own, one which inhabits an alternate universe. It consists of a giant disc, rather than a globe, which sits on the back of four extremely gigantic elephants, which, in turn, sits on the back of a vast turtle, swimming through space. You've read nothing like it, I can guarantee.

Wow that does sound pretty awesome.
