Writing from my new job!
Yesterday was an 8. The day was good. The new job is nice. People are nice and I have been really impressed by the processes in place. Everyone is very excited that I am here, and I think I am going to enjoy the work.
When I got home from work, I ate like a teenage football player. I was absolutely ravenous. My brain must require a lot of fuel. I watched The Bachelor and went to bed at like 830. I slept like a dead person until about midnight. Just passed out. Could have been exhaustion. Could have been the 8904092940240 carbs.
Here are some surprises so far: Everyone gets a half Friday every month. No one really gets to work until 9. There is a gym in the building that is free to people who work here. There is an in-office happy hour at 4 pm every Wednesday, not that I will be drinking and driving the tollway, but that’s still nice. There is a lady who brings in lunch for people to buy on Wednesdays; today she brought gumbo and cornbread.
The commute is fine. It takes about 25 minutes, but even if I leave my house at 8 I am still here before most everyone else. My office has natural light, which is a relief.
So far, so good.
