Kay, you know this weird fucking legal high going around at the moment known simply as “spice”? Here, have a look at this, but don’t expect any real-world info, since it’s Wikipedo. I had the opportunity to sample it the other night, and holy fuckballs, that shit is insane - and not in a good way.
Put it like this: I ended up on the beach, convinced that I was dehydrating to death. It was quite possibly the single worst drug experience of my whole life - and I’m counting the time I accidentally ingested a dose of LSD five times higher than usual.
It’s disgusting stuff, this spice crap. It’s marketed as “synthetic cannabis”, but I’d rather take a hit off a blunt of White Widow laced with PCP than try that spice shit again. Apparently, people have died, so I doubt it’ll remain legal for much longer, but the effect it has on the psychoses is truly something to behold. Everyone in Brighton is on this shit - it’s highly addictive, so bonus there. There are homeless people camping outside the legal high shops permanently just so they don’t have far to go to get it. It’s disgusting, it truly is.
Anyway, that was that. Never fucking touching that shit again. On to better stuff.
I found Advance Wars: Dark Conflict in Cash Generator for £2! Fuck yeah, you’re damn Right I got that sucka. Been enjoying it immensely, looks like I may have found a replacement for Civilization Revolution (although, let’s face it - it’s a Civ game - the gaming equivalent of crack). It’s as hard as fucking nails, which makes it a true Advance Wars title. Loving it, personally, although I feel they coulda kept in the cutesy-ness of the units. Still, it’s a blast and it was two Goddamn quid.
They were also selling Broken Sword for a fiver. I’d say that’s a little steep, but it’s a Hell of a game, so I may return at some point to get it.
My iPod is continuing to be a pain in my arse. The screen’s gone down again, but it looks like it’s not coming back this time. Fine, whatever, I can navigate an iPod blindfolded, don’t need the screen. Lost the charger though, so it looks like another trip to Poundland is in the near future.
Got a bunch of books to get through. Re-reading Last Human for the billionth time. Well, it’s a damn good book, Red Dwarf forever.
Also I have the book that became Die Hard. Little backstory for ya: Die Hard was based on a book called Nothing Lasts Forever, which itself was a sequel to a book called The Detective, which was filmed into movie starring Frank Sinatra. That’s right; John McClane played a character that, in one way or another, was originally played by Frank Sinatra. Shit you not. They changed Joe Leland to John McClane, but so far it’s a pretty damn good book.
I also have a novel by Peter James, a Brighton-based thriller novelist.
