Kinda scary to think that this is what’s happening above our heads. Yikes, a 1km asteroid would do some damage!

“What do you think is wrong with what’s happening in the world today?” - would be the question a Johovva’s Witness would be asking me right now if they were on my doorstep. Come to think of it, do they not do that anymore? I haven’t had to deal with one in years. Are they all on vacation? Or have they given up hope they aren’t one of the 14,000 ‘saved ones’ or whatever it is?
Sorry to any JW’s out there reading this :P

I only say that because it’s alarming how much bullshit is going on in the world these days. When I say ‘bullshit’ I refer to ‘humankind bullshit’ with all the killings and massacres and such :( There was the Sydney Seige, then the horrific school-shooting in Pakistan, THEN the one that the media seemed to not even mention, the Nigerian massacre :( Like, what the fuck is going on? And of course it’s all caused by religious nutcases with a vendetta against another country. Now the latest I hear is some Aussie ‘jihadist’ or something. I didn’t even look into it. Then yesterday ISIS is throwing homosexuals off of rooftops, you know, because killing someone for being themselves is a great way to not have to deal with your own feelings of homo-eroticism. Fuckers.
I wish they could slide down a sharp blade by their balls and land in a pot of vinegar. NO-ONE deserves to have their life cut short by some extremist. And where is the policing in these countries? Do terrorist groups get a free pass? Like what the hell? So much I don’t understand. I just hate, hate. In every possible form of it. Why can’t we all just be happy and get along? Huh? Huh? Put down your 2000 year-old books and focus on the real world.
Ergh.

Then there is the real world. Asylum seekers on Manus Island on Hunger strikes and our immigration minister not giving a damn. His latest report was ‘Anyone participating in a hunger strike will not be settled in Australia.’ They aren’t being settled anyway!!! FFS.

Then there’s what Indonesia is doing. Our closest neighbours, executing people for drug-trafficking. It reminds me of what Singapore did to that Vietnamese guy back in the 90’s, where they hanged him and he was only the bait for a drug cartel back in Sydney. He got caught at the airport with the drugs strapped to his body. It was so sad watching the movie made about him last year and I was in tears, I remember.
So now, Indonesia (under their new President) is doing a similar thing. I believe in Singapore, the death sentence for drugs was by hanging. In Indonesia, it’s firing squad. Over the weekend, they went through with it, executing six of the people on death row, all for drugs.
Now, there are two Australian’s awaiting the result of their final plea for clemency.
How fucking terrifying would that be, to be in that situation? And the President said ‘No’ to the final plea from the others, so why would he accept theirs?
And for something as pitiful as drugs. I mean, really? It’s not like they killed anyone. But hey, break the rules and pay the price! The ultimate price.
It just blows my mind that in this day and age, that there are still countries that are so vicious.
And countries that are so close to mine.
My landlord always said that Singapore is a Dictatorship country.
I would never be as stupid as to try and do what these people did, as I hate anything to do with drugs, but what if you’re set up? What if someone plants it on you? Does that mean you DIE for it? Blows me mind.
Then I have friends who have been to Indonesia and they say that drugs are readily available EVERYWHERE, and the police don’t even care, as long as you’re doing it IN that country and not trying to export, or import, them.
Seriously? This is still the world we live in??

Just some of the random crap that’s been on my mind lately, just thought I’d write it down. I can’t help but feel empathy for these people and their families. It also really makes me question if I’d ever want to visit or even stop-over in some of these countries. I see photos from people on my facebook in these countries and their happy snaps and all, so I know it can’t be all bad. The media just really focuses on these people on death-row, and rightfully so I suppose.
What I also don’t get is how has Shappelle Corby been locked away for so long? Is she up for the same fate? Is she bringing in too much media attention? Are these two on death-row part of the “Bali 9”? It’s all so confusing.

Drugs are bad, mmmkay.

The Bali 9 deserves the death penalty. I am suprised they all havent been done by now. They were in another country. They broke the law in a MASSIVE way.

Seriously? South East Asia has incredible drug problems. Indonesia is terrible. Its not just australians trafficking frugs out of Indo into our country - its everywhere. Indonesia has had ENOUGH of it. They dont want it either, and have been trying for so long to shut it down. What other way can they say to the world that enough is enough? You do this - you get the death penalty. They have a no nonsense - no bullshit policy about. If Australians keep getting away with it - the problem is never ever going to go away - other parts of asia have some serious laws that would make our minds just boggle - but they are there for a reason.

In all seriousness - the bali 9 deserve the death penalty there are no two ways about it.

Thanks for your views. I despise drugs also. I guess I have too much empathy sometimes. I don't understand WHY the Bali 9 are still being kept alive for so long. Surely it's impacting on their resources? Maybe that was the old President's way of doing things whilst this new one has decided to just off them? So because weed was a lesser-known drug, that's why they are still alive? is it because they were bringing drugs INTO Indonesia wheras this other guys on death row were trying to export them?
Yeah, the Corby's do seem like a very dodgy family to me.

I think there have been a lot of efforts to bring the Bali 9 back to Australia. or appeals - or trying to get a different sentence. I dont know how long people are kept on death row and I dont the full story - I know some of the Bali 9 may have different sentences based on the quantity of drugs on them - they had bags and bags of heroin strapped to their bodies. I also think they were all diff ages... I cant remember the story.

I know in other countries - we have successfully brough them back home - I come from a town where two kids robbed a bank in USA and had their season ski passes around their necks. They were successfully brought back to Australia and now serving their sentences here... so i think Australia have been going down that route - they tried to do that with Schappelle - but managed to save her from death row but i think she is on parole now - and lives with her sister, but has to report and everything over there - she isnt allowed to travel etc... Its all in the legals and we have a relationship with Indonesia - this happens alot with european drug mules too...

Schappelle Corby was caught with a massive bigger than your average pillow - sized bag of weed in a body board bag. She was trafficking drugs from Australia into Indonesia. She took a body board bag full of an unusual weed that was not available over there - when her sister owned a surf shop and hired out boards on the beach.

The Corby family are absoloutely horrible. They are not nice people and have been involved in stuff for a very long time - the whole argument by Schappele was that someone planted it on her - which is the most common defence any drug trafficker comes up with - if it was planted on her - the Corby family have probably pissed off the wrong people - being involved in drugs in Indonesia and Australia.

I am sorry by I have no sympathy for these people - why should drugs be a lesser crime than anything else? I HATE weedsmokers. Its horrible. I have seen people become violent when stoned and not when stoned - i think the whole industry from the manufacture to the trade is disgusting - i have seen what drugs do to people and I dont understand why that drugs are just a lesser crime than everything else. I see no reason why Schapelle is even still alive - plenty of other people from other countries get the death penalty for lesser crimes - just because we are a close neighbor and politically allied with indonesia for a whole bunch of reasons - why do we get to get away this shit when other people don't?

Schappele and her family played and played the media for their sympathy - the media is not your friend and is not a way to communicate and protest your innocense - its the media. They way they had set up and sold her first interview when she was released was sick. Its just a joke and a game to them. The media will turn on her - and not owe Schappelle anything. She should be thankful for every day she is alive.

And you haven't even scratched the surface with the level of bs going on. Ever heard of the trans-pacific partnership? Do you know anything about the clauses in the "free trade" agreement with China which allows Chinese companies to sue the Aus govt for loss of profit? You're a Qlder so I shouldn't need to say anything about bs the state govt has done... :p Everyone hears about what the "terrorists" or "undemocratic govts" do but not about what's being planned in our own country.

Whoops rant over!

Wow, and after hearing on the news tonight that China has been hacking Canberra's secret files, that suddenly makes a lot of sense! I certainly did not know that!
