Whenever Rod Stewart comes on the radio when I'm driving, I leave it on until it's done, even though I fucking hate Rod Stewart. But my ex-girlfriend's dad loved it and... even though he passed away years and years ago and that relationship went to shit a couple years back... he was my friend and I pay him honour by sitting through it.

When my brother was sick, I did the same with Beach Boys and David Bowie songs, even the ones I didn't care for.

I use the radio in a weird religious way, like that, even though I am agnostic.

I don't have faith in goddamned anything but I do have love and I do have hope.

I've told you sometimes still how in my times of trouble I'll scan the classic rock stations wherever I am and hope for a message from my cousin Al, who was going to be a goddamned amazing DJ except that he was murdered when I was a kid.

Classic rock radio when I'm driving is the sermon I will listen to.

Small town baseball yards are my churches.

I am painfully weird and sickeningly sentimental but here I am anyway.

I hope you're having an awesome now.

This is an idea of communion that I can get behind.
