Packing up in Book Two

Tomorrow we fly.

We brought in the camp chairs, and I will move the patio furniture so it is a little more out of the sun and rain. Move the umbrellas in. Sort through my electronics, toiletries, and clothing. I don’t think I have to take any clothing; I have lots of clothing in Ontario.

When I want to say Ontario, I almost always think Canada first.
Ontario is very different from BC. I feel like I am on an extended holiday.

So that’s it for BC for now. Six weeks went by pretty fast. What did I do? Cooked at least once a day, often twice. The new griddle was fun and easy to use, and then, of course, my Instagram feed filled up with cooking videos. I tried some of them out - like cutting broccoli in half and fast frying them, and sprinkling cheese on top till it melts. I made what I call chimichangas - they weren’t really chimichangas, the way Chinese food you used to find in Canada isn’t really anything like the Chinese food you will find in Taiwan. I mean, really, just try to find sweet and sour chicken balls anywhere in Taiwan. I dare you.

When we get back here in 6 weeks, the pool will be open and the other building will have occupants. Maybe there will be some action around here. I sometimes feel like we are the only ones in the building. It has 120 units, but I’ve only seen maybe 20 people - a lot of rich Vancouverites and Calgarians use their units as holiday homes. Sounds perfect - beaches and boating in the summer, skiing in the winter.

Phase 2 has 200 units, so maybe there will be as many as 50 people around when that opens up.
