A 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck Northern California today at about 8:10am PST.
I wasn't anywhere near this earthquake. From what I'm understanding, this earthquake was centered in Redwood Valley, CA, which is roughly 150 miles north of San Francisco. Redwood Valley is located in Mendocino County.
I am in Southern California. I'm an estimated 600 miles away from Redwood Valley. Rest assured, my fellow Southern Californians and I were in the clear the entire time.
I've lived in Southern California for many years. I've been through many an earthquake. I'm used to them. I do not mind when they occur. The grounds shakes and I think nothing of it. Sure, sometimes the shaking knocks down my decorative figures and whatever I might have hanging on the wall, but for the most part, earthquakes come and go and when the shaking stops after those few seconds, life goes on. It's been my finding that sometimes, people who maybe should have felt them don't and otherwise have no idea that the ground ever shook in the first place.
Well, hopefully those affected by today's earthquake are okay. Sometimes these earthquakes leave behind damage that the media doesn't know of or report.
As for me, I'm good. I'll just be sitting here, waiting for the next time the ground shakes.
