Brexit-level grim in The dotted line

It's a weird day today, watching your country enthusiastically vote for ideals that you stand so firmly against.

Earlier, as I watched the first half of the results coming in, I felt disappointed, but not surprised. I took heart in the fact that if you add all of the success of the Greens to that of the Lib Dems, the total is not that far off the otherwise alarmingly high gains made by Reform.

I've been waiting for my area to declare, I knew it would be a long wait as we're having a full reset which is f****** terrifying. The residents of this long held Conservative stronghold have been voicing their opinions for months through the corridors of St George Cross flags.

And I fear that some don't entirely comprehend who they've voted for. I hope in-fact, that it's me that's misinformed and Reform turn out to be a tolerant, respectful party who take the time to understand the needs of the most vulnerable communities and work to improve the lives of all....  I'm raising my own eyebrow.

The first 21 seats have just been declared here and it's 17/21 to Reform so far. It's almost Brexit-level grim.

And as I sit here in my rainbow trousers (that I love so much I bought 3 pairs of them!) next to my much-loved "Dogs for trans rights", "Free Palestine" and "Disabled people are sacred" art prints by joy-filled activist Wednesday Holmes, under my happy wall (my doodle paintings of nature stuff - not inherently political, but very much tied to the anti-capitalist ideals of mindfulness and rest) I somehow feel like I've just been given the remit to use my voice more, even if it feels so uncomfortable to do so. Fascism could be closer than it looks.

...

There's much more I planned to share today but my brain's been scrambled by the election, so I'll ponder a little longer on other topics.
