Wintersong in General

I don’t know which is the more melancholy holiday song - Sarah’s Wintersong or Dan Fogelburg’s Another Auld Lang Syne.

At a few seconds before midnight I hit send on the phone. A sleepy woman at the other end of the line answered as I counted down…

Nine
Eight
Seven
Six
Five
Four
Three
Two
One

“Welcome to Twenty fifteen.”

We exchanged Happy New Years. She went back to sleep and I went outside and stared at the moon for a while.

I don’t know where this is going. She is working on her doctorate and is heavily involved in her community, and possibly getting involved in politics.

Our lives are completely cross circle. She runs a farm, directs a community band. Plays every instrument. Raising a daughter on her own.

I’m a slug who watches too much TV and wonders what the fuck I am doing here.

So now I am heading over to see if the gym is open, so I can join. Then off to find a store that is open and sells bell peppers - because I have gumbo to make.

The sun is so bright. Like the universe telling me to wake the fuck up and make some decisions.

And you've raised two children on your own, I don't know but what being a Navy pilot isn't some small accomplishment. You know yourself not everyone gets to go to flight school. I would think that if you want to know where this is going the quickest way to find out is to ask. But maybe it's too soon to ask that question I think perhaps maybe I'd hold off on that one for a bit.
