Rick left for Arizona around 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. I woke when he did, so I could see him off. I snuck extra snacks into the bag with his energy drinks. When he got to the office where the co-workers were meeting, the company gave him a $569 per diem for food and whatever else he needed this weekend. That’s CRAZY! I would not know how to spend $189 a day to eat!
I am happy that he’ll have a working vacation, all expenses paid. They made it to Lake Havasu around 12:30, and Rick sent pics of his very nice, expansive hotel room! He was tired from the trip there, and also meeting with the crew of people that delivered the animatronic props, running through the plan for today. He at first said he had grabbed a fruit salad and a juice at a store near the hotel. He was going to veg out and go to bed early.
Later, he texted from a restaurant- the guys all decided on a late dinner. These guys have all been on “deployment” for other projects together, and get along great. He was up before me this morning, and told me he was headed to the free breakfast, and then they would be headed down to the boat docks to get to work. The last text I got was that they were going to be spending the next two days in two pontoon boats on the lake from 10-5.
I completely vegged out yesterday. Ate junk food and watched too much You Tube. I made a huge plate of chicken fajita nachos for dinner. Was in bed, watching Facebook videos by 9, asleep by 10:30. I had been in a deep sleep, and woke up thinking it had to be 8 a.m., but nope! It was only 12:30, hahahahaha! I went back to sleep, and woke just after Rick texted to say good morning.
I decided today was going to look a tiny bit different. I immediately started tidying up. I wanted to tackle at least a few organizing projects. Nothing major. I got to work refreshing my altar, wiping everything down, adding a Spring appropriate table cover, and rearranging my treasures.
I prepared some easy snacks and poured myself a tall cup of homemade lemonade, and started watching a true crime series produced by my favorite author, Harlan Coben. I want to get to a couple more projects before dinner. I am thinking of reorganizing the drawer under my plant shelf. It is currently my junk drawer, and I am not even sure what is in there, so it’s time to clean and purge.
I want him to notice the changes when he gets home Monday afternoon. I am planning on making an Easter appropriate dinner, so we can do the whole holiday thing together. We don’t have ham, but we do have chicken leg quarters, potatoes, stuff to make a simple macaroni salad, devilled eggs, beans, cornbread, and I am thinking thumbprint cookies with pepper jelly.
I am excited to have him home, but I also think a break from each other is a good thing. My body has cooperated so far, and my pain levels have been manageable. I will take the win.
I am not confident enough to talk a walk outside by myself. Maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow, I am planning on doing some sort of creative art project. I have six new canvases, and I saw a portrait style I want to try and emulate. I need more art for my gallery wall that features all women and girl subjects, and having my own painting up there would be pretty cool. There is a painting of us I painted, on Rick’s office space wall, and one I painted for him for Christmas, which hangs above Rick’s bedside table.
It is now Sunday morning. I got up early and opened the blinds and window and watched the sun rise from our bed. I tidied my side of the room. Purged empty prescription bottles and bits of trash. I am planning on clearing the dining table and adding a Spring floral quilt as a tablecloth. I need the table cleared so I can use it as a mini photography studio with Rick’s lightbox.
On the reselling front- things are CRAZY! I was able to pay the utility bill in full just now. Two weeks ago, I paid for two refurbished tires for the car (emergency situation, as we had driven through a construction zone and ended up with a bolt in one rear tire).
I use Rick’s debit as a saved card for most bills, and just transfer back to him from my Venmo account. When I went to transfer to him today, so I could pay the utility bill, Rick said he hadn’t been paying attention to his Venmo account, and there was over 450 dollars there from me, just sitting there! He had forgotten to transfer to his debit over all of these months. IT’S LIKE FREE MONEY. GIRL MATH! I want that money back, gosh darn it!
We are hoping that Rick will find more steady, consistent work again. With this weekend job alone, it would enable us to pay NEXT month’s rent, and then some. I am so grateful that we can play catch up.
On the health front, I think the worst of the flare I was experiencing has eased a little. My pain levels have decreased from a constant level 7, down to a four. I am not as exhausted. I can move a little easier. I will take it!
Happy Easter to all who observe. I hope you all have a peaceful day with your families, if you have time with them.
