Zombies everywhere! AHGHHH! in Adventures in paradise

When you’ve worked nights for as long as i have, and you transition to working days, you experience a range of different experiences, just in the day-to-day running of thing. The daily grind, so to speak.
For me, it’s people. Crowds. I am so used to walking home anywhere between midnight and 4am, with the only people I’ve needed to avoid being the occasional crazy-person or drunkard stumbling my way, which was easily enough.
Nowadays, however, it’s people on their God-damn phones! I now have to walk through a crowd of 9-5er’s whenever I’m in the city (usually getting my groceries), and I swear to God, people (females especially!) just plod along, not looking at all where they are going, staring straight down at their phone, tapping away.
Cue me, almost running straight into them! Or rather, them running straight into me, completely oblivious and zombified to the world around them. You know, I’m only 191cm and all. 6 foot 3. But hey, reply to your text! Get hit by an oncoming bus! Go for it!

Work’s going pretty well. It is early days however. Today was actually meant to be my first day starting. In fact, I was meant to be there right now. But since I’ve had to cover shifts, my first week has completely changed and I’m not going in until Saturday morning now.
I haven’t had a phone call from work yet, so I’m only assuming that they’ve organised rosters correctly, because from what I was told, I sure as hell ain’t turning up :P

I went for a walk into the city today to look for a CD single from a friend over in Canada, whom is looking for an exclusive Australian-only release of a mariah Carey single. I checked out The Record Store on Adelaide street, which is this really cramped place but pretty incredible if you’re an oldschool music buff. They had a huge collection of records and even boxes and boxes of CASSETTES. Remember those? Haha, I had a few as a kid. Beats me where they are these days. Anyway, I had no luck looking for what he was after. I’m thinking I may have to have a squizz in bigger record stores the next time I’m in Sydney. There’s not really any rush.
I looked in a few other stores and ended up just buying a pair of shoes that was size 13, because I figured how rare it is that somewhere has shoes that size for cheap also. I figure my current work shoes are about to break apart any day now, so it’s good to prepare.
On my way there, I passed a cop who was lining up at Krispy Kreme. The temptation to take out my phone and take a picture was SO strong. My will-power was strong however :D

Tomorrow night I’m off to a dinner-catch up with Petey. I haven’t seen him since before he moved to Sweden, and he’s back for a short amount of time. He actually left a present in a bag for me on my doorstep (a gift from Sweden) which was nice of him, as I wasn’t expecting anything. Unfortunately I wasn’t home at the time, so he just left it and I read a message on Facebook from him saying he’s stopped by, so at least now I will be able to thank him in person. I realized it doesn’t start until 8pm though, and with my new 6:30am starts, I’m only going to be able to stay briefly, as it will take me a while to get back home. I might just have to flag down a cab. I’ve only briefly met a couple of Pete’s friends, so I will recognize one but I only really know Pete, so I think it’ll be good to leave early anyway. I’m only going because it’s not like I get to see Pete much. I saw him on Grindr last week and we chatted a bit, and he was being different to how he used to be, but I guess since he now lives abroad, it makes sense that he’s only looking for fun whilst he’s here. I think I’m well over that these days though. Back in the day I may have gone there.

My best friend Moe rang me yesterday and has organised a Pokemon Monopoly game for Sunday night at Steve’s place. THAT should be something a bit different haha. I don’t know the first thing about Pokemon. I never got into it, but I do know Monopoly and that’s all I need to know. He’s also invoted Rhys, so if he comes, that will be fun. Both Moe and Rhys now have boyfriends, so I can only assume they will both come along too. I really want to meet Moe’s new boyfriend. He sounds a lot more promising than the previous one was. They were just too different, I feel. I haven’t met Rhys’ boyfriend either, other than the cutesy photos he posts on Facebook every now and then.
People seem to be shacking up!

I woke up to a strange text from Reecie yesterday, asking if I was still awake as he needed somewhere to crash. Usually I WOULD have still been awake, but things have changed in my life, so this time I wasn’t. He’d sent the text around 3:30am on a weeknight, and I’d replied around 8am, as I’d had a sleep-in (It feels SO weird writing 8am as a SLEEP-IN, when that’s when I used to go to BED sometimes haha!). I just asked if everything was okay, but in typical ReecieD style, he never replied to that, so I have no idea what he was doing up that late or why he needed to crash here. I would have gladly helped him out if I were conscious.
I guess I will find out what happened eventually. These things tend to show.

Oh, my dad “followed” me on Facebook. You know, after deleting me a year and a half ago.
I literally said out loud (when I saw the notification), “Fuck off.”

I loved cassettes. I fought off CDs for the longest time lol. I've also recently found a bunch of VHS taoes in my room and not quite sure what to do with them lol.

Do you want him following you? Can you make him unfollow? I've never had a notification of someone doing that to me, but I have my privacy settings pretty high because kids try and search me!

Not really. It's just annoying. It just means he'll see any public posts I make, so I'll just share anything gay-related publicly which will piss him off (It's why he deleted me in the first place, cos he didn't like my "gay shit")
:)

I HATE that phone bullshit. Same with people who text and drive. WHAT could possibly be so important? I've had plenty of times where I really, really wanted to check a text or email, but if I'm driving? Forget it. If I'm walking? I move to the side and check it, so I'm not in anyone's way. It's not hard.

Exactly!
