Well, we made it through Mercury retrograde, eclipse season, and even Ol Man Winter! Happy Spring, everyone! It’s a time for new beginnings.

And I’ve certainly been living all those themes the past few weeks and ready for the newness!

I got myself through the retrograde fairly unscathed, though I do still have question marks regarding moving forward with my consulting (I’ve offered my services as a part-time side-hustle after I start my new gig since it’s not going to be a conflict of interest).

They are the loosiest-goosiest people - the company that actually pays me. The other company is more on top of it, but they are a Chinese company and DO NOT have any American’s best interest at heart. So the two companies that I’m dealing with on a consulting basis are very hard to deal with, and I’m so glad that I am getting myself to a place where I will be getting a legit paycheck on a recurring basis. I literally have to chase the owner of the loosey-goosey company…over and over and over. It’s NOT fun. But if I can make some side cash, I’m fine with it. I just don’t like dealing with them as my ONLY source of income!

And that leads me to my NEW company! I have been asked what I’m going to name the new company for Prosebox purposes, and I’m not sure yet. I need to think about that over the coming days, maybe. Hmmmm…

I feel like I started naming my workplaces when I started at The Cutie Pie company, right? Then I moved on to The Cool Cat Company. I’ve clearly just named the company I am consulting for The Loosey-Goosey Company. So, what to name this new place?

Thinking…
Thinking…
Thinking…

I’ve got it! The new company will now be called ✨ The Glitter Factory ✨

It’s perfect.

Y’all. I’m weirdly, obsessively so excited about this job and starting this job.

Were you the kind of kid who looooovvvveeed the first day of school? Like, did you go to the store with your mom and pick out all of your fresh new notebooks and pens and crayons and scissors and glue sticks and lovingly pack them all together in your book bag and just dream about your first day? Did you obsess over what you were going to wear on your first day back at school?

ME TOO!!

So here’s how it’s going: I am packing for my move, right? And it’s going pretty slowly. I’m taking my time. Going through everything and deciding to either keep/pack, toss, or donate. It’s a painful process, but I’m starting to get through it (oh, how I wish I wasn’t so sentimental!).

I started packing my clothes closet yesterday. But in order to pack up my clothes, bags and shoes, I have to pick out what I’m going to wear to work on the first week, as I’m expected to be in-office for the first five (or four?) days to get onboarded, get my laptop set up, etc.

The reason I wrote “five or four?” is because the office is working a mini-hybrid-type situation where everyone is in office Monday through Thursday, and Friday is a WFH deal…unless you need to be in the office for something. The Cutie Pie company had this set-up for a while, but I found myself going into the office here and there on the WFH days for one thing or another.

Anyway, I put together five outfits yesterday.

Can I just say that after WFH for the last 3.5 years made putting five work outfits together really difficult?!

Especially five outfits for just starting a new job! Like, I have to make an impression, but I don’t want that impression to be weird, but I’ll be working in a creative environment, but it’s still corporate, but are we wearing jeans or are we wearing business casual or business creative or WHAAATTT?!!!

Remember, I’ve worked for ✨ The Glitter Factory ✨ before, but it was 15 years ago…before most offices went “casual” and could wear jeans and tees every day. I looooovvveee dressing for work, especially in a creative environment. So I need to get a little bit more 411 from my inside informant before finalizing my choices.

It’s somewhat baffling to me, but in a way that’s like a fun puzzle. So I put together a combination of all of the above and tucked those outfits away for when I have to pack a suitcase at the end of next week.

And don’t forget, I still have the insanely fun puzzle of putting together a new loft space when I move! There are a million projects I’ve already starting taking notes on (and have built spreadsheets with images, links, and tons of ideas), and that’s also so freaking exciting to me.

FRESH STARTS in every way!

But I have to close the books on my current life and get this stuff either PACKED or PURGED and I’m overwhelmed.

And so, today, Sunday, I’m taking a break from all of the moving box chaos and heading out to a vintage/antiques market with my sweet friend, S. who is contemplating a move back to NYC right now! She’s an attorney here in [new city] who’s originally from NYC and is being heavily pursued by a law firm back “home”, so I can’t wait to talk to her and see if she accepted the job or what’s going on. And I can also tell her that I’ve accepted a new job!

Anyway, she wants to look at antiques and vintage stuff and there just so happens to be a massive show in this town that’s about 1.5 hours away. We’re going to go take a look!

I’m mostly going for inspiration because (a) I don’t want to pack anything that I don’t already have in my apartment, and (b) I probably can’t afford 75% of the things we’re going to look at anyway!

But it’s fun to get away for the day!

Ok, need to get dressed and get ready!

xox,
GS
