Which Chart?! in Essays

For a little under a decade now, I have been aware of two major astrological charts and their differences; The Tropical, and the Sidereal.

While I found proponents for Sidereal, there are very few real Tropical apologists, or anyone really advocating for this system over the other. Those who use Tropical are usually happy to entertain Sidereal leaning clients and encourage them to decide for themselves which system should apply to them. Conversely, Sidereal proponents tend to be one-sided and attempt to convert everyone to the “True Real Sky” astrology.

I myself never had any contention either way. I was content with my traditional Tropical chart and, never felt much of any pull to explore the Sidereal version. My own Inherent chart provided copious material for me to learn from and apply, for many, many years.

Then, about a month ago, I stumbled upon Human Design. And upon stumbling on Human Design, the trouble of the “other” chart became more apparent. Because in Human Design, one’s chart flows into Energy Types, Strategies, Gates, Lines, Crosses, oh my! I was in turmoil! Which system to trust? The old Tropical system which had taught me SO MUCH already, or the Sidereal for which proponents had so much to say about it’s accuracy and reflection in the real world?

Since my conundrum started with Human Design and not with my natal horoscope, I decided to analyze both of my Human Design charts against my own intuition and lived experience. I went through them center by center, and I hope the dear reader may follow along, even if unfamiliar with Human Design. The chart based on Tropical astrology is the first one I became familiar with. Then, I looked up the Sidereal chart.

The very first thing to jump out at me was the difference in Energy Type. My Tropical type is Projector, while the Sidereal is a Generator. Now, this is a huge difference- they could really be complete opposites, in terms of type. A Projector has an empty, or undefined sacral, while a Generator has a defined and energetic sacral. This means that as a Projector, finding energy and being invited to partake in that energy is absolutely required. While, being a Generator, a completely different set of objectives is needed.

So, which one am I? The dilemma here almost cannot be overstated; the fallout of behaving as the wrong type can be quite dire; especially for a Projector! Imagine having something like celiac disease without any awareness of it- in fact a conscious denial of it- and eating bread, pasta and wheat products like everyone else. The Projector condition is to take in, absorb, and amplify that exact energy of everyone else who can digest grains easily-so that eating and digesting grains becomes something of their identity. The result would be catastrophic and inevitable.

I sat down with the imperative; I need to know. I began to wonder how would I figure this out? I studied the differences in the charts. In both charts, the head center and emotional center are undefined. This gave me a big clue; I am both psychic and an empath. Feeling and perceiving other people’s thoughts and feelings has been a defining characteristic of my life. How can I apply this insight to the difference in the Sacral? Which is tricky because I don’t know if I am defined or undefined-what clues would lead me to logically conclude Sacral activity or Sacral absorption of activity?

And I came to remember times in my life wherein I experienced that mm-hmm yes of the Sacral, or the nuh-uh no as well. But these were not consistent, and certainly had never resulted in any kind of direction that satisfied me. I also remember hearing that very still, very quiet Splenic hit-spontaneous, instantaneous, and certain, which without fail led to success if followed.

As if to confirm my Splenic authority, a sudden feeling of emptiness in my belly reminded me of the entity which I had expelled from myself in 2025. That experience had left me feeling relieved of a huge, bulging and voracious energy, and oddly a sense of emptiness where it had been residing in my belly for over 30 years. And I realized that I had not heard from that Sacral yes or no since that moment. And my question was answered in a very organic way; I am a Projector. My sacral is open and in fact, so open that I am very easily conditioned to believe in the motivating energies of others around me-even entities. Being a Projector, with an open Sacral, may be why and how that entity found access to my field in the first place, with the help of external circumstances, of course.

There is far more in-depth and helpful knowledge about how entities interact with human beings, how they gain access to us, and more from the Clairivision School and particularly the book Entities, Parasites of the Body of Energy by Samuel Sagan https://a.co/d/006mpxHJ

As if to further confirm my organic finding, my Spleen guided me further. Spontaneously and without knowing why, as is the way of the Spleen, I set down my pen and paper and looked down at the bottom of the coffee table, among a slew of other books the one title facing me was “The Lost Zodiac of Rudolf Steiner”. Of course I picked it up and, without trying, flipped right to page 120. I read, almost in disbelief the title of the article: “Rudolf Steiner’s use of the Inherent-tropical Zodiac. I set the book down. I wrote this essay.

The article puts forth about 12 points of evidence that the Tropical Zodiac is the Inherent Zodiac and the one that Steiner unabashedly approved for the natal horoscope. The reasons here, and for me, are inconsequential at this time, but I thought I’d include a few quotes from Steiner himself which elucidate the uses of the Inherent Tropical and the Sidereal systems.

**”The horoscope which has been cast for thousands of years for the individual, correspond with infallible exactitude to the four lower parts of the soul…” Rudolph Steiner **

“The four lower parts are the physical, etheric astral bodies and earthly ego.”
“But we can note here that the sidereal zodiac is directly relevant to the life-processes of plants and animals, as the bio-dynamic gardeners and farmers well now.”
