Why I’m still against the war. in OD

Last Thursday I took part in an anti – war demonstration in my town. As we protested a few people informed us that we were too late.

This is a common theme amongst hawks at the moment. Why bother? The war has already started. You are too late. Give up. Support our troops.

Well in my case, the answers are easy.

Why bother? It’s too late? Well, it may well be too late to stop the war from starting, but its not too late to try and get the war stopped. Besides, would it not be a bit hypocritical of me to protest the war before it started and then give up because it did? Surely if I was against the war before last week, I’d still be against it now?

Also, it may be too late to stop this war, but what about the next one? The US House of Representatives and Senate have resolutions before them supporting the people of Iran in their quest for freedom and decrying Iran for suppressing those freedoms. Syria is another possible target. And let’s not forget North Korea.

As for supporting the troops. I do. My support means not wanting to see them out in Iraq and wanting them home. I found out on Tuesday night (I refuse to watch people be bombed and killed on TV, war is not and should not be entertainment, it is a serious business) that as of Tuesday night 22 British soldiers had been killed in Iraq. Iraqi forces had killed only 2 of them. Those 22 need not have died at all if the weapons inspections (which were working) were allowed to continue. But Bush and Blair ensured that they could not continue.

And that is why I’m still against the war.

Reposted (for the second time) due to notebomber/censor.

Reposted for a third time due to someone covering the entry with American flags. Why can’t they get my nationality right? I’m SCOTTISH!
