I love being a middle school science teacher. Why didn’t anybody tell me how awesome it was?!?!?
I do miss my old team at the elementary school, but I am so less stressed.
Also, instead of filling up my gas tank every 10 days or so, I fill up once a month. No joke. The last time I filled up my car was the Saturday BEFORE Thanksgiving. I’m at half a tank right now. This is awesome.
Kenzie is doing awesome. She had her first kindergarten reading assessment. It basically tells the teachers what phonics/whole words she knows so that they can best teach her what she needs to know. The expected score was 28. The end of year score is supposed to be 102. She scored 76. So, she’s not struggling with that whole reading thing. She is struggling with staying focused. She gets distracted so easily. The teacher thinks it’s within the normal range, but since I struggled in school with the same thing, I’m keeping an eye on it and will have her tested early if need be. I don’t want her to fall behind or get made fun of because she day dreams, talks, and “forgets” what she is supposed to be doing. We must also remember that she is one of the youngest kids in her class, and maturity plays a big role in all of that.
Pat is in the middle of his first year of being a teacher. It took him a long time to get hired, and to get where he is. He’s totally stressed out. He spends a lot of time at his school. I know that it’s worth it, and eventually (like next year) will be able to get home before dinner sometimes. I’m so proud of him.
So life is good right now. Things have settled into a happy, cluttered, and busy routine.
