I can’t recall what I had been doing or thinking all day. It is exactly like I began dreaming. And when I’m in n the dream, only what is pertinent to the current experience is present for me in my memory. Everything else is like a vague, hazy story.

That is how I identify when I’m in a dream, most of the time. I recognize a vague haziness around my environment. How I got there. What sequence of events led me to this moment. When I am conscious (at least conscious in this waking dream) I have a solid linear unbroken story.

But, what if…

What if every time I wake up, that background of what I percieve as a consistent, unbroken story changes? Or is even made up on the spot, or in the moment so to speak, to make sense of the environment and world that my awareness finds itself in moment by moment…
