November 4

As quickly as I could I bought lottery tickets, 649, Super Seven, every one that allowed me to pick my own numbers. The next day I checked and I had won $10,000 in the Super Seven - four numbers correct. I idly thought I should have bought every combination with those four numbers, but how much would that have cost? Is there a chance I would be punished for that kind of behaviour? Would the dog talking stop? I went to a travel agency and bought four tickets to taiwan over the Christmas holidays. That night at dinner time I told my family the news - I won a family trip to Taiwan over Christmas. Naturally, they were surprised and unsure but soon were up to the adventure.

Over the next six weeks. life went on as if nothing was amiss. Chichi did not say much. She remained tight lipped. I took her for numerous walks. I kept my eyes open for the girl in the yellow high tops, but she never reappeared. It’s possible that her little white dog, Barney, had never spoken to her. I was the chosen one. Are there other chosen ones? What was I chosen for? Who chose? I asked Chichi these questions but she simply said. “Don’t know.” “Don’t know.” “Don’t know or care.” Now that she could speak, her lack of personality was a little disappointing.
