Yesterday, my horoscope said that I would be in a good place to take care of financial matters. Here’s what I did:
-
I got signed up for marketplace insurance through December. I’m not excited about it, but it is significantly less expensive than the $1500 COBRA offer from The Cool Cat Company’s insurance plan. I used an old HSA credit card to pay for the month, so it feels like it’s not coming out of my own pocket (even though it was my own savings, it’s just money sitting in another pot that I’ve been using to pay medical expenses). I still have to choose another plan for 2026, but at least I can get through the next couple of weeks before having to sign back up, and as you may have been hearing in the news, 2026 prices are likely to double. That shit is stressful for anyone, let alone a cancer survivor/patient. My own PCP is not on the plan, but I’ve been wanting to move away from my current PCP anyway. Guess this might be the push I’ve needed?
-
I checked my retirement account yesterday and didn’t see that my financial advisor was able to roll a small Simple IRA over to my “big girl” IRA, so we got that taken care of, as it seems the people running the Simple IRA for The Cool Cat Company had dropped the ball. Surprise? Nah. But I was glad to get that taken care of.

I finally got word that, even though I never got a signed copy of my severance agreement, the payment is being processed!! That means I can get through December unscathed financially. I sent a text to the lady who handles the finances for The Cool Cat Company to ask about the agreement, and she said that Head Cat had told her he’d sent me back his signed copy. Of course, that’s an outright lie, but I told her that I didn’t care. I’m happy to walk away completely now that I know I’m getting that severance check.
Those three big things mean that I can now finally shut the door on my Cool Cat Era. It’s been a trip. I’m grateful that I had the opportunity for two years, but I’m now mentally ready to move on to much, MUCH bigger and better things.
I’ve already started looking at potential places to move back to [former city], so there’s some momentum there (even though whatever job I get will likely dictate where I live/move). A woman who I know from my old downtown building wants me to move into her space when she moves back to [current city]. Long story, but that could be an option. Her space is stunning and less expensive than my current apartment!
I have a few irons in the fire regarding jobs. I have a video (2nd round) interview with a company back in [former city] scheduled for Tuesday. I am pushing to talk to a couple more people today before we all break and travel to our Thanksgiving destinations.
I’m being somewhat assertive about getting my face back in front of people. Something amazing is on the horizon!
OK. Dad found a really cool job posting for me last night and I want to send these guys some examples of my work, so I need to get that going. More momentum…
